What do you think is the responsibility of our Political leaders....

Last week in our city (Toronto) we had a major explosion of a propane facility. Hundreds of people were evacuated in the small hours of the morning and several still cannot return home because their houses were severely damaged. While responding to this tragedy a firefighter died. Our Mayor was on holidays and returned the day this happened. He knew the situation and the concerns of the people of Toronto but upon assessing the damage he then boarded a plane to return to his vacation. Not only was he absent at town meetings on how to help these poor people deal with their concerns, he missed the funeral of an honored city employee. I feel he didn't do his job, as do many others. What do you think is the responsibility of our Political leaders? Does the job come first or does a family vacation come first? What is your opinion?
