"Star" Wars on mylot

Yes, I was in one of the battles of "Star" wars here. I had gotten a couple of pm's that I didn't want, soliciting things that I didn't care about. I told these people very nicely not to send me such material, or I would delete them from my list. I didn't get such a great response from them even though I was nice, so I wrote a rant about the both of them. This caused either one or both of them to start trolling me. They went around and rated me negatively whenever they could. My star fell from a 10 to a 6 in a matter of a week, and I am still trying to get my rating back up. What did I do about it? Nothing! I still came in and posted as usual. The only thing that kept me from coming here was life and computer trouble. I didn't let them discourage me from the site that I loved so much. And this stopped them from trolling me. They finally realized that what they were doing was useless. I never wrote discussions that would get me banned, and my falling star rate didn't discourage me one bit. So finally they realized that they couldn't whoop me into submission, and they left me alone. I wish more people here would take the same attitude. This takes the power away from such people, and if we all banded together and did this, it would eventually stop.

Well, When I First got my star it was a 9, and then when I was so excited about it, and people congratulated me on having a 9 star rating at my 200th post, it suddenly dropped to a six. Then since then it's been back up to a 9, so I have been attacked I suppose. But mostly I don't pay attention to my star, I just try to be as nice and helpful as I can, and I always give plus ratings to people as well!

It looks like politics is brewing in mylot . There are factions of members here who are out to topple a person who have the capability of giving good and critical opinions or other reasons best known to themselves. I have seen some of my friends no longer subscribing to mylot or has been rudely axed for being over critical or going against the rules. So being in a ten studded star is not a prestige as it is flexible and could be taken away anytime as had happened to me in the past. There is no point of getting annoyed when one is demoted to a lower star ranking as we have to abide by the rules of mylot. It is a challenge we have to face here.

After thinking about star rating wars, star drops and seemingly bogus standings in star rating... why does the place even have them (I am talking of both the conflicts and the stars themselves). I mean instead of having star wars, we could be star trekking. **absorbs the deafening silence, waits for the tumbleweed to pass** (If only there was a sweatdrop emoticon...)But I guess that would imply ratings can only go up not down... I can see some good in that, but I can also see that system being rigged too. Well my story maybe known to you and others ruler, it might not but here's the summary of it. Started as an 8, and got a 4 within 24 hours. After that it was just a rollercoaster. I've been taken to 4 four different times... and this fourth rating incline has been very slow, its been going on for more than 4 months. Never been a 9 or 10 either. Part of my rating is due to political involvement and saying things several people didn't want to read. Pretty much "bandwagon" is the key thing for mylot and some notable members (plus plenty of lurkers with accounts). Whenever I say anything about it, particularly to members complaining they went from 10 to 9... I point out its a rigged system by reminding what the star system is supposed to be (a measure of quality), and what it really is (a worthless says-nothing contest). haha that is a good name for the star rating system And yes mine has been attacked but i can not say the reason for it, only thing i can think of is, some people don't like other peoples opinions.. But i say, 'if you cant take the heat stay out of the kitchen' Basically if you are asking people what they think of a certain situation then should not get upset, if don't like the opinion someone is saying... I thought thats the whole point to a discussion site, all having different ideas, opinions, we can agree or disagree because we are all different, and it makes it more interesting anyway.. But i feel some are quick to give a negative if upset with the opinion of others... I don't mean, to be negative towards people or anything of the sorts.. Example, was discussion about how she witnessed a group of girls talking about guys, and comparing them.. anyway she didn't think it was right and asked if mylotters agreed with her etc.. I laughed about it saying well that makes a nice change to see, maybe they are finally fighting back because it is normally guys that discuss girls and how they scored, to be all macho... Basically i did not say oh yes i agree with you blah blah blah lol and been other times where maybe i will say 'i am sorry but i don't agree with that and i give a reason for it.. I don't see problem with having a debate, it can be fun, little heat and it is no reason to give a negative, because surely if you are debating and giving reasons and so on then you deserve positive.. The rating thing is stupid and unfair.. negative should only be used against ones that are totally rude, abusive and racist, and i am certainly not like that. Well my star did go back up, but i don't care about it anymore, because i carry on being me, and can not be a a55 licker haha, and if some want to be childish by hitting the negative when dont like what we have to say, then its their problem Have a nice day

well I'm quite new to mylot and still don't get the star system. But I'm pretty sure i have not attacked anyones star as I I've people (+) and not (-) though I do not really get the true purpose of the star system as i feel it could be use o make another member feel that the member with a higher star rating is superior to it.

Love the pun on words there! If you don't want to get involved in the "star" wars, take my advice... stay away from the political discussions! But you got to let it roll off your back, I found that the people with the lowest stars are the ones who voice their opinion with the most honesty, weather I agree or not with them I got to admire how they don't hold the punches. The ones who have low star ratings due to trying to peddle scams and their referral sites, I think deserve it, if they do it when someone isn't asking for it. But we all need to respect each other, and not be so touchy. It's just a chat site people, learn and laugh!

Now i'm less worried about star rating ,because after my star rating going down from 8 to 7 i'm less interested on it,as we can't do anything,this is not in our hand,we can only contribute quality posts or quality discussions,if people will down rate you what can be done,we can';t stop anybody to rate negatively.LAst week my rating was 79 with 8 stars,then it degraded to 68 in one day time period now it gone to 75.When it degraded by 11 points i know it is intentional activity.Anyways i'm concentrating to give good answers.

ahhh....it sound more pleasant that mentioning the rating word..i had been into star wars many times...i tell you when i started having my start i got 7 and went up to 8 then 9..thats the highest i got..then because of the attackers it went down from 9 to 5 the green star...it happened in a day, would you believe that? sh1t happens..lolz..now i got this beautiful shining blue star..the very first time i reached this stunning star..i just don't know till when..

hi the_ruler, you mean star wars VII: the mylotters strikes back? well the typical happened in the star wars is....our rating increases slowly but decreases fast. well, i hope it is not really happening. i think no single person can affect our rating even if he/her rate us negative massively. the star and rating is affected by collective rating of others mylotters. so, our star and rating can decrease only if a group of several users attack us simultaneously. what is their motives anyway to rate us negative?

My star has not been attacked but my fiance's has. I am not sure why people attack other people but I do know that I at least try to be fair in my own negative ratings. There are a thousand times over that I could have rated most of the people on my own discussions negatively but I do not. I won't rate you negatively if I disagree, and I haven't even though I don't like when a member only writes a few words. I try to make it clear (in most of my discussions) that I much rather have a longer response as it keeps things clear, and it earns you more... Some people just won't respond but with very little. If my star rating was to be attacked I would probably be very upset and wonder why and probably do a bit of blaming. I know that it appears to be unkind, but that is just the way I would react. I am be honest. I don't know why I or anyone else takes it to heart but we / I do. I appreciate the discussion and want to commend you on the title. Very clever indeed, and definitely very catchy!

I think my star has been attacked many times. I have seen it fluctuating many times. now it is just stucked on the same point. When it was a 7 star then it looked nice. I hate the 8th & 9th star ranking. I don't like their colors. I wish either some people rate me positive or negative. So i can get rid of this ugly colored star.

I dont mess with others star ratings because they earned them far and square and i just dont think we should use the ratings system to hurt or attack other mylot members if we dont like a comment, i think we just shouldn't rate it, i never give negative ratings to other mylot members, i only rate if i like what they have to say and if i dont agree with a comment i just dont use the ratings option were all here to have fun and make some bux.

well my star also decreases sometimes to 9 and i get angry because i am trying to write as descriptive and helpful as much as possible but because they dont like my answer that conflicts with their opinions i think they are giving me negative rating anyway it hasnt decreased to 8 yet and i hope it wont i am glad with my 10 now and i hope it continues like this , happy mylottings

I don't know how this thing works but just some days ago my star came from 9 down to eight and the only thing I did on that day is concentrate on my interest that I am low in ranking, seems like game to me. I posted some discussions and responded on some on those low ranking interest then I noticed my start goes down. It sayed for some days then I go back to answering and posting again on my top ranking interest and there my star shine again. hot hot hot in red
