hello all! i was wondering how many of you have nicknames for your children? maybe a shortening of their name, or a cute pet name you gave them? my boy's names are anthony and liam. my mom started shortening anthony to "ant" and it just caught on with me. i don't call him that all the time, just sometimes. i usually shorten liam to just "lee." my hubby calls him "leebles." lol he is a little chub, and he used to say he reminded him of those weebles wobble things. so he started calling him "leebles." :) when i was pregnant with my first i remember saying that i would never allow my kids' names to be shortened. lol sometimes it's just cute. how about you? any fun names you have given your kids?

Yeah we all do have nicknames for everyone in the family. Matter of fact almost everyone in my country does that. Well in the family the kids start calling everyone nicknames. It can be funny and cute and sometimes annoying. You know how kids are. One may call the other wolf, the other calls his brother bones or skeletor. hehe For the girls they may call each other cuddles, kwindle, dimples, chowie, doll, cutie, apple. The list goes on. Sometimes it's even better to use the nicknames because you get more response from them when they try to ignore you. Like, Ok bones into the car. Dad stop calling me that. See I told it you gets through his attention wall. Lol. cheers!!

That is funny that your children came up with each others nick names. Some of them are cute ones and some of them are funny ones. I cant wait till my children start doing that. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Happy MyLotting

yes, i agree... it is very cute! when i was pregnant with my second, my oldest son was around 2. so we tried our best to explain what was going on to him, and rather than just saying "the baby" we would call him "baby Liam." well, even though the "baby" is 1 now, my 3-year old still calls him "baby Liam." lol thanks for the reply. :)

My son I call Buddy. I started calling him Bubbie when he was a baby and as he got older it sort of progressed to Buddy. His real name is William. When ppl ask him what his name is he tells ppl his first name is Buddy and his second name is William. My little girl I either call TT. I started to call her Sissy as a nickname and I would say it in this sing song kind of way that sounded like TT and it just stuck. I also call her Chunk a Munk. Short for Chunky Monkey. She's a real chubber with all these rolls.

I think it is fun to make up nick names as long as these are kind and the child likes them. I called my older son whose real name is Ryan, Rybe Rascal and that suited him when he was a toddler. Now he is thirteen years old and he is fascinated by history he is I call him Ryan the Roman. My younger son whose real name is Leo is called Leo the Lion and Lionie. My two nieces are called Aleah and Sabrina so I call them Lee Lee Lucky and Bree Bree.

My oldest son is Andrew. I never wanted him to be Andy, but when he hit middle school the kids started to call him Andy. We still call him Andrew. It was weird when kids would call here and ask for Andy, I would have to think about it before saying that they had the wrong number. My second child is Nicholas. I call him Nick or Nicky sometimes. No one else calls him Nicky~ he only lets me call him that. Then I have a son named Taylor who I call Tay and I have one daugher named Katelyn and I call her Kate. Nothing too clever, but just shortening of their names.

I have 2 boys and they both have nicknames. My 2 year old son's name is Kenneth William and his nick names are, Kingster(my mom's nickname for him), Kenny, K.W.(Daddy came up with K.W.),Bubby(I came up with this one) The reason for this one is because he is such a cute chuby child so chuby sounds like bubby. I'm sure there are many others but that is too many to remember...lol. And for my 5 month old son his name is Jacob Ernest, his naick names are E.J. which I came up with, Boo-my sister calls him this, there is Jackey(my mom came up with this one)which I use quite often, there is also Bubby again which his daddy calls him that. Another on is Chubers which my other sister came up with. Boy when my sister Kelsey calls him that he just laughs...But then he is only 5 months old so he doesnt know the differenes but it is so cute how she does call him that. I'm sure he has other nick names but of course to many to remember. Well Happy MyLotting

Leebles... that is so cute. I have pet names for my son, like Little Buddy or Sweetness. But I hope, hope, hope his real name is not ever shortened. There are two ways it could be shortened and I will insist on one over the other if I see it happening. My husband calls our son Short Stop..... baseball reference, which is very fitting for by my son and my husband.

Hi fatmansmommy, It is so cute that kids can come up with nicknames themselves. Adults seem to come up with a lot of nicknames for their own kids, and that's all right too. I had five children, and they all had several nicknames a piece. Some of the favorites were Midge for a boy named Michael, Charlie for a girl named Cher, Donna for a boy named Donavon, Chunky Monkey, Cutie, Sweet Pea, Benana for BreAna. HiBee was a nickname to me from BreAna when she was about 14 months old. This nickname has stuck around for a long time. She is 17 now. She does not usually call me Grandma. She claims I don't respond to Grandma when she says it. LOL Have a nice day..

Yes. My daughter was known in the neighborhood as "Boo" for quite some time. She's 10 now and would rather that no one know that now although there is one boy in school who still calls her that. It was what she was called when he met her. I think she tolerates it. It started as "Baby-boo" when she was a baby and became "Boo Bear" and then "Booberry"(as in the cereal) then "Elizaboo" (she's Elizabeth) and "Boobearski" by Daddy. My son is Alex. We have called him "brother" which became "bro-ham" (as in the car). Then He went through an awkward stage where he was always hurting himself and he became "Alexander Trip-and-fall" (usually said with an English accent). Lately I call him "alejandro" even though we are not latin. Not sure why I do that one. I just like having an accent I guess.lol

i know what you mean about the english accents. lol when i was pregnant with my first, my hubby and i rented shrek one night- neither of us had seen it. well, after watching it, we started saying everything to eachother in english accents, and saying stupid things like "i need to use the loo". lol i know it's strange- i guess it was just our funny little thing. and when my son was born he had colick really bad and was constantly crying, and we used to say that he was crying because he thought he was born into the wrong family- for 9 months he had heard english accents and then he didn't and was probably confused! lol thanks for sharing your cute nicknames! i liked elizaboo. :)
