It is being reported on the news that Obama will be doing a 30 minuate infomerical on wednesday. I saw the article on yahoo news. Do you think this is going a bit overboard? I mean this primary and election season has been long a drawn out affair. Most people know who they are going to vote for. A lot of people are just sick of hte whole thing and want it over with. Do you think this is good idea, or might this backfire on him? I am assuming sense it is a infomerical it will be late at night (isn't that when infomerical run?) so how many people will actually see it? What you make of this whole infomerical thing?

If Obama had stuck to his promise to accept public funding instead of raising millions of dollars from the American people (and evidently some foreign interests as well), he wouldn't have the money to be doing all of this. He's blowing money right now - showboating - after all it's going to be a "historical event" if he's elected! This should be a good indication to the American people that he's not going to stick to any of the other promises he has made either.

Yep yet somehow millions of people think he is the second coming and are going to vote for him.

If the polls are correct that he has such a big lead, why is it necessary for him to spend major bucks to do infomercials?

As Whoopie asked Elisabeth when she brought this up on the View, is all this speculation or is there any truth to the fact that Obama is getting money from foreign interests, etc. Also, they made another good point which I totally agree with. People gave Obama their money to spend on his campaign. Not to give to charities. Not to save and keep for himself but to put himself out there and let others know what he stands for. So I don't call this blowing money or showboating. I call it doing what the people who gave him the money expect Obama to do with it. Campaign. And for those of you who bring up, "well, isn't he supposed to be way ahead? Why is he doing this?" As Obama has stated many times, the election is not over until all the votes are tallied. Obama is not going to quit until the last minute just as John McCain is not going to quit until it's over. Both of them are wise to feel that way, since we don't know who all will go to the polls, etc. And I'm sure if John McCain had money, he'd be doing the same thing. Apparently his campaign managers felt it was more important for him to spend his money on other things....like Sarah's wardrobe. Talk about blowing money.

i just saw a bunch of obama haters, one said anyway if he gets elected it will be history so thats why he is spending money, you guys are afraid of a black ruling a america, judge a man not by his color but by the content of his character, i know most ppl will be voting for Mcain just to make sure that a balck man wont enter the white house. I heard the was some assasination attempt on his life(obama), can't you just see. bloody racists. just let him be, if he lose he has made us all blacks proud and if he win, he also has made us proud. long live blacks, say no to racism.

His campaign has said that it will be "history" because of being the first African American (or at least partial) elected President. They are making it a race thing, not the Obama opposition. It makes no difference to most people what color he his - it IS his character that concerns us - his efforts to keep a number of things hidden and secret about himself - things that should be a matter of public information. There are, however, a lot of people who will vote for him just because he is black and for no other reason - they will vote for him regardless of his character and his politics. I have seen much racism on BOTH sides of this race - racism is not just white/black - it is equally black/white!

From what I understand, the infomercial will be on at regular times tonight. I'm saying this because I was watching Jay Leno the other night and Michelle Obama was on. Jay asked her a question about how the race is affecting her daughters and Michelle was talking about how they were trying to keep everything as normal as possible for the girls. However, she told a funny story about, I believe it's their oldest daughter, Malika (sorry if not spelled right). Evidently, Michelle and Barack were asking them how they felt about the infomercial. Malika said, "So you're going to be on every station?" Michelle assured her daughter that Barack had not bought time on Nick at Night or the Disney Channel, Malika's favorite channels. Once they told her that, she said something like, "As long as you don't interrupt my programs, I don't care." As far as the infomercial goes, as the View women were talking today, as long as Obama has the funds to do this, I think it's a good idea. Obama is going to lay out what he wants to do for this country without debating or interruption. I think it will help undecided voters to watch this, listen to what he has to say, put aside all this crap they've been reading and decide for themselves whether they want Obama in office or not.

Obama likes a forum where he talks and everyone else listens. He doesn't like forums where people ask questions of him and have an opportunity to voice their views.
