Have you ever been in an auto accident and left the scene?

How many times have you come out to your parked car and found a dent in the door or fender. Why do people cause damage to another's property and leave it. If you cause damage to someones property it is your responsiblity to fix it. I am sure that if it were to happen to the offender there would be hell to pay.

I've never done this, left the scene I mean. I see no reason for people to do this you're right it's completely unfair. People need to learn to take responsibility for the things they do. As you said, I'm sure if it were to happen to the offender they would be quite upset.

The only accident I ever had was when I was sixteen . I ditched my car really bad . I had almost hit another car because I was going around a turn and hooked some gravel they had on the road . I ended up on the other side of the road and all I can remember seeing was a baby in the car that was coming towards me . I was so worried about hurting a baby that I never thought about the one I had in the car with me and took the ditch . It wasn't anything major but I did write my car off and we all had to be checked out for the seat belt wounds and our heads to make sure we didn't have a concussion . But we were all acutally alright . The mother of the other car was very grateful because she had realized why I did what I did and I was told later that if we had hit head on someone would have been severly hurt if not killed and she ended up coming and saying thank you to me . My husband hit a car one day while we were at a store . He felt so bad that he went in to find out who it belonged to . He hadn't been able to stop due to all the ice on the driveway . The woman came out and was a total sweetheart about the whole thing and told us not to worry about it at all as there wasn't even a mark on her car . You are right , everyone should at least owe up to what they did . If not you would live with the guilt of what you did and the person may not be as considerate as in our circumstance but the truth is , that you were the one at fault and should always owe up to what you did . Like the saying goes , do unto other's as you would wish them to do towards you .

What a frightful experience. I couldn't imagine having a car go out of control that I am driving with any child riding in my car. Huggers to you.

I have never damaged another car. If I had, I would never leave without letting them know who did it. I agree with you, if the offender did such a thing, they would be the first to yell. But, I have found that in most cases, humans are very self centered and rightous. Not everyone, but quite a few unfortuately.

Weeeellll.... this post comes right on the heels of the automatic car and parallel parking. I've admitted I'm not a good parker so I guess you've outed me. I was turning into a space in a mall parking lot. The car beside me was backed in. It was an old fashioned car with chrome bumpers. That bumper stuck out on both sides and it scratched along the side of my van. I moved to another parking spot and glimpsed at the other car as I was passing. There didn't appear to be any damage but I did not breathe until about a week passed. My bad.

No I have never left the scene of an accident but I have come back to find scratches and dents in my car. Careless people don't seem to have the consideration or courtesy of others in parking lots do they, humph.

I have never been in such accident where I damaged others property. But I think that it is wrong to leave thinking that the damage was done to somebody else's property and that is not our problem. If we damage someone else's property we should be the one to fix it. We should think how we would feel if someone else did the same thing to us.

I have honestly never done this, but it has happened to me. I have come out and found my car scratched or dented in a parking lot, with no note on the car from whoever did it. It's never been really bad, but when you work hard to maintain a nice car it is really frustrating that people are so rude and irresponsible. I was taught that if you ever do this in a parking lot, you leave a note on the windshield of the car or go into the store or wherever you are and try to locate the person. If someone had the decency to do this and the damage were minor, I know that I would never take their money to fix it. I would take care of it myself, just out of appreciation for their honesty. Mistakes do happen, but we all need to take responsibility. Another thing that drives me nuts is when people leave shopping carts all over the parking lot, especially on a windy day. I think that all places that use shopping carts should have a system like Aldi's, where you put a 25 cent deposit on the cart and get it back when you return the cart. You sure don't see any carts in the lot at Aldi's!

Maybe all the supermarkets should start doing the same as Aldi. I too tire of the carts left everywhere. It only takes a few seconds to walk it back.

I have never left the scene of an accident. I can't stand it when I come out to see a dent or scratch or something on my car. I've never done it to someone's car but if I did do it then I'd wait on them to come out of the store or try to have them paged inside of the store by saying what color and kind of car it was and tell them what I had done and that I would be happy to pay for the damage that I caused.

It wasn't yours was it?LOL I hate to admit to it, but yes at the age of about 17 I hit a car in a parking lot. I didn't do any damage, but I still should have left a note. If I could go back, I would but there is nothing I can do about it now.

I would never leave the scene. If something happened in a parking lot,I would call the police or at the very least leave a note with my information for the owner of the other car. My son had an incident where he backed into a sign and left the scene. Very foolish. He ended up getting a steep fine.

I have never been in such a situation. Yes, if it were the offender it would have been the hell to pay.
