My mom's 72nd birthday!! Yippeee!! She made it!! I'm so happy for her because I honestly and seriously didn't think she'd make it this far and I still question if she'll make it to Christmas. I really hope she does and goes even further. The stroke had really did some damage to her body because she was so active and now she's not because her body doesn't work like it used to and she's dizzy all the time. One medicine that stops the dizziness makes her sleepy and the other for her high blood pressure makes her dizzy. Go figure. Right now she's getting her hair trimmed and then she'll be home. Hubby and I are going up to see her and maybe take her out to dinner or something of course with dad too but first we need to prime the back deck before it rains again and before the temperature drops again or hubby will be spackling the areas he did again because the rain desolves it so gotta get this done first then we'll go see her.

She really needs to get out and have a good time to relieve some of her stress.
Maybe this will help out at least a little.
I know a day away helps me so a day away from her house should help.

Hi you two!! We had a good ole time! We went out to dinner and she seemed to have really enjoyed it! Her hair look fabulous!! lol She just beamed tonight!

Thank you Feona!! I told her and she just beamed! Yeah, her hair do was fabulous!! lol We took her out to dinner and she seemed to have really enjoyed it! Getting some time out of the house really does replenish the spirit!
I'm watching your discussions and I see you have about 12 inches of snow already!! And it's suppose to carry on till Saturday?? Holy smokes gal!! Where in the world do you live? I can't imagine living in so much snow especially so early in the season!! I just know we're in for a rough winter because we have so many acorns on the ground which is a sure sign of a bad winter! I'm in North Carolina and they're calling for snow flurries tonight after midnight and it's suppose to be in the 20's tonight and tomorrow is 42/20 brrrrr!!!!! I can't imagine what it is where you are.... where ever that is!

I've been following your story, and I'm glad to hear that your mother made it to her birthday, I also hope that she makes it to christmas. My mother was born on November 17th, so November is a good month to celebrate a brithday. Thanks for sharing another update with us, and please keep us posted.

Thank you danish! I'm so happy she made it too! We took her out to dinner and she seemed to have really enjoyed it. A little outting really replenishes the spirit. And her hair was really nice! lol Yeah, November is a good month! I promise to keep you posted!

Grats mom.
You never know nowdays.
When dad came to live with us he was basically on deaths bed. He looked like he would not last a month yet almost 5 years later and he is still here.
Meds are horrendous for the elderly as they are given to ease their ailments and diseases etc. Yet they all seem to contradict each other at times like your moms do. Hope you have a greaqt BDay dinner or whatever when you see mom.

That's because he has someone who cares for him. Had he gone somewhere else, he might not have made it but because you care (obviously) he was able to bounce back which is awesome! It goes to show how a little bit of love and a lot of care that even the most sick can bounce back!! I hope for you to have many more good years with him!!

Yes she is very lucky for she has loved ones who love her dearly!! She has many many many friends to boot! lol We took her out to dinner and she had a really good time which is what we were aiming for!!

Thank you Thoroughrob!! We did have a terrific time!! We took her and dad out to dinner and she just beamed!! She really looked like she had a great time which is what we were aiming for!
We got the floor of the ramp painted but it needs another coat, we got the back deck primed in the important spots and the rest is almost finished maybe tomorrow we'll get to finish that if it's not too too cold.

Oh, the sleep study was only Sunday night. So, I picked her up in the morning - like 5 in the morning - just as well I didn't get back to sleep - ALMOST!
Yeah, some nights it is like getting squeezed outta bed by cats! Think this is going to be one of those nights, the temp is already dropping!

Thank you ElicBxn!! Believe it or not, we did get everything done in time!! Talking about rush rush!! Wow! lol We took mom and dad out to dinner and mom seemed to have really enjoyed that! And her hair do was fabulous!! lol By the way, they were active with the fire station and rescue in the picture but they're not active anymore because they're too old and feeble now to do such hard work but they sure did enjoy it though!!
Has your rommie returned yet? LOL Still sleeping in her bed with all them cats? I don't know how you do it!! You must be like a bunch of sardines in a sardine can!! LOL

But I'm glad all of you are still thinking positive about life and all. I wish her all the best (I just love Moms! I love my Mama very much). I'm looking forward to celebrating my Mama's 72nd birthday as well! Long way to go though, she's just 47

Tell your mom happy birthday for me and don't forget to give her that conversation you printed out. I really hope that makes her as happy as she can be! I'm so glad I saw your post about that, Cats, and was so happy to be able to give you that advice. That should really cheer your mom right up... and your dad, too!!! Marti, I can't thank you enough for giving me that information!! I did print it and took it to her and she's going to check into it. Dad was really happy to see it too and even asked mom if she saw it!! That's how much that meant to them!! I told them both that businesses don't tell you everything and you have to know the right questions to ask and not knowing them makes you the vulnerable one with a target on your forehead and they know it.
We took them out to dinner tonight and had a blast!! Mom really seemed to enjoy it and her hair looked fabulous!! lol

Happy birthday to you mom. I hope that she will feel better after her hair is done, and that you all will have a wonderful time when you go to see her. Sometimes people are stronger than we give them credit for, I thought the same about my mom, but she is hanging in there and doing well.

You are so right about that, some people are stronger than we give them credit for and mom is definetly one of them! 95% of people who have the type of stroke she had don't make it to the emergency room and she did and beyond that. She did almost die three times but she made it because she's a strong woman and was so very active. She's working on getting back to that same person and hopefully she'll get there again before her time comes.... if this stress with selling their old house is lifted, maybe then she'll be able to get back to her old self. We're hoping anyway.

"Happy birthday Mom" Prayers can do a lot as others say "Prayers can move mountains". I remember my mom, I stopped working just to take good care of her when she got bedridden due to old age. Like you I always wish and pray to God to extend her life till her birthday and Christmas, so every birthday and christmas she survived I'm so happy and grateful to God. Until the past other year, she was able to have the last Christmas with us God is so good to still grant me my prayer for her to celebrate her 93rd birthday with us but after an hour she passed away. That's the saddest moment of my life. However dont worry about your mom, she's not that too old to recover. Just pray and ask God Almighty to bless her to recover and have a much longer life.

My dad's goal was to make it to 70. He always said life begins at 70. Unfortunately his life ended at 69. I will always remember his last birthday, because it was the day my son was born. When you get birthday's in the 70's you should celebrate like no tomorrow. She hasn't lived to be 72, she has survived to be 72, and that is a huge accomplishment. Tell her happy birthday from your mylot friend in Utah.
