I always check my receipts now as I am fed up buying goods on offer only to see them still at the higher price. I think a lot of shops are doing this and I am glad for your discussion as nearly everday now we are getting ripped off by shops doing this. They must be making some money because if this is happening to me all the time it must be happening to many others. If they charged everyone a higher price for their goods they would be making a lot of extra money.

I always do. But lately, with all the price issues and sales and the item not actually marked with the price, I have been asking - "please tell me the price of these before you ring them up.." so that I know that the price i figured it was while on the shelf withall the discounts, is the price for THAT item (and that it wasn't on the wrong shelf) and that it is the price I want to pay. Many times they rang up a different price than what I thought it was from the sale signs, and sometimes I take it anyway other times, I put the item back. I get annoyed looks from both the cashier and the person behind me, but hey, it is my money and if the stores don't want to be bothered to actually price items anymore and make us search bar code matches for the price then they can just deal with how customers have to verify the items price. I also look at the backs of the receipts as often there are coupons on the back for things - like car washes on my grocery receipt. Saves money there!

Hi coffeebreak how are you? I hope all is well, Yes, It's your money I don't know why they try to look at you so funny they always do that. I went to the store the other day and got a few Items, now I am going by what the sign on the shelf said it was on sale, so I took it up to counter, nd the lady rung it up a different price. I told her oh no that os not what the sale said. She called the manager over and I told the manager I amgoing by what the sign said. she goes, just give it to her. they need to get the sales right. before they ring them up. Happy Holidays to you and your Family! I haven't seenyou here in a while always nice to hear froom you!

Hey marciascott - I have had to walk back to the shelf and point it out to the manager at times! Good grief! And do they say "thanks for pointing that out so we can fix it" or "we are sorry for your inconvenience" - no, not a word. Nice to hear from you to! I'm here and around - I think. Life has not been very nice lately so I don't have much to chat about that anyone would want to chat back at!

I always try to check my reciepts. I also sometimes forget. To save myself a lot of hassle if something is wrung up wrong I will watch as everything is scanned. That way if they make a mistake I can catch it right there and they can fix it while I am still in the store. This just saves a lot of hassle.

I check my receipts most of the time. I should all the time because I use my debit bank card a lot and it says cash back. I was told that some of the cashier will take cash back out of your account and keep it for themselves. As far as I know this has never happen to me. I was told to keep a close watch on my receipts for this reason.

I always check my receipts when I go to the grocery store or somewhere I buy a lot of things at once. You never know when the cashier will ring something up more than once.

I am afraid that I am guilty of not doing so. I do find that most of the time it is that they put a wrong item in and then they correct it, so it does get rather confusing when I first do not notice the correction. And there are the times when they forget to deduct the coupon or the discount. My husband pays for the groceries by debit, but the doctor told him that he is starting to get cataracts and so I might have to check the list more closely.

I've been checking mine all the time. A couple weeks ago I had the local grocery store charge me for 2 bags of cereal when I only bought one. You have to watch them or you'll get charged double for items or overcharged. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD**

I never used to check receipts, thinking that everything is computerised, hence foolproof. But other day when I went to a grocery store, there at the payment counter it was clearly written asking cutomers to check the receipt and items before they leave the store. Since then I have been checking regularly.

Yes, you'd better check them because the computer is not always right. I meant the cash register, well it's like a computer.

I always check them and I always do it before I leave the shop as well because sometimes once you leave the premises you cannot go back if you find a mistake. It is amazing how many mistakes are made anyway but it is always worse this time of the year when it is busy and everyone is stressed.

That is a great idea! Also check resturant receipts. I've had one waitor give himself a tip on my credit card after I had already tipped him in cash. I only noticed it because my receipt said one amount but my bank statement had a whole OTHER amount. I called the restaurant and found out the waitor had helped himself to more money on my credit card. If I would not have kept my reciept I would have never noticed that. So be very careful!!!
