Hey Everyone.
Do you people accept that Modern Technology Makes Us Lazy???
I feel so from my personal experience. Few years back before using mobile phone, I was able to remember so many cell phone numbers and land line numbers. I also remember the things I have to do, birthdays and all such things. By using mobile, we can just store everything there and set an alarm for everything. This reduces our memory. What do you feel??
And nowadays people feel that Computer is another basic thing that is needed. Without computer nothing can happen. How much complicated mathematics can you do in your mind??? The capacity reduces.
Escalator is another thing that makes us too lazy. Haha.
What is your opinion about this??? Do you feel so or you just like it???

Technology makew lazy people lazy. Teh active people remain active despite technology and use techmnology to add to their efficiency. Take for example escalator. i use the escalatro to go uo the stairs alright but climb stairs ther too so that I can reach faster than the escalator takes me. As for remembering tele Nos, earleir thre were 4 digit tele nos and you had jsut 4-5 people to whom you made calls as everyoen did nto have a telephone. There was hardly anythig to remember. Now the tele numbers are 10 digit and your friend circle has increased tenfold because everyoen has a mobile. Even your maid and milkman will have a mobile.
To compensate for lack fo acxtivity sitting on the computer, i go for a jog every meveningn and do an hour of yoga. Technology has not made me lazy but more efficient.

You are right to some extend. In some places I see only the Escalators and not the stairs. So we will have to use that only in that place. If this technology keeps on improving like this, then they will replace all the stairs with Escalators. Lol. Wishing that it won't happen. Hehe.
Coming to mobile numbers, we have to remember atleast 4 or 5 numbers for our safety. So that we can use them to contact even if we miss our mobile phones somewhere. Other than that its fine to store it. We don't even remember the activities that we are supposed to do. We just keep a note in a mobile phone and it will ring for us. I take special care in not doing that. That will of course make our brain inactive.
I am just trying to say that we have to use the technology in a right way. I also accept that technology improvement is too good. Lol.
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

Not only LAZY but also unhealthy. Basically if are interested in hard work, we would not have industrious. We could lived on the farms happily, provided population growth is controlled.

Probably I am not telling those. Lol. Our Country should have to compete with the other countries. For that the technology should improve. But we have to learn to use it in a right way.
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

I have to agree with you. That is interesting that you brought up this subject. I do find it something that I truly understand where you are coming from here.
I believe that with the modern technology and it advancement in today's society it has rendered a lot of people more laid back and maybe even more lazy because things have been made easier for us as a whole.
There are people like myself that would feel a little lost and helpless without my computer to be able to surf the net and do other things like earn a little bit of extra cash like on this site.
It is good to have the technology systems that we do however I have a feeling that a lot of people would have a hard time being without them.
Cell phones is another good example.
These phones are turning into everything from being able to use the internet and taking personal photos.
That is funny what you say about the escalators. A lot of times there is the option to go up steps near by to them and I sometimes don't mind just walking.
It is something how the uses for things have climbed in the past years on this world. Take care and thanks for your posting.

In the past days when computer was not available also we were able to live. But now after using that for 24 hours a day, now we feel that we can't do anything without a computer. Lol. Thats funny.
Of Course computers are useful. But we just get addicted to few things and just couldn't stay without them. Thats the problem that I am saying.
And about Escalator, of course we find the stairs also. I wonder if we will have the stairs in the future also. Lol.
Now we find sitting in front of the computer as a fun. That may affect our health in the future. So we have to be preventive. Doing this online earning as a part time is fine. But I am sure that doing this as full time will let us to big trouble in the future(regarding the health issues).
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

Hiii Vidhyavini I feel you are absolutely right.Modern technologies have reduced both mental and physical abilities of a human being, it is helpful now but, can harm your future life as you are getting old your physical and mental strenght reduces and if you are just sitting in a chair for 8 hours in a day and driving home...in your future all the organs which rested now will start showing symptons of negative response towards you..so better be prepared for the future...Use stairs rather than using elevator, try to store numbers in both your cell phone as well as your brain and try to retrieve it from your brain. Slow and steady wins the race.

Ya you are right. Thats what I am also trying to say. Of Course modern technologies are very much useful. But we can just avoid using them when they are not necessary. In that way we can be healthy in our mind and physically also.
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

I am completely in favour of your discussion and agree that the todays technology makes us lazy and good for nothing.Especially with the arrivals of computers the machine dependencty of the human beings has gained the momentum and is going to be a serious problem in the near future.
Many diseases like spinal problems etc arises with the continous use of PC.Same is the case with the other machines also. But we have to also consider the fact that the upcoming of new technologies have also made our life somewhat comfortable also.

Ya you are right. If we wish to be comfortable there starts our laziness. Lol. Of Course modern technologies are very useful. But we have to use them in a right way. Just avoid those which you seem is not necessary for you.
We could try to remember some important phone numbers. Atleast we need that if we missed our mobile phones right??

Ya you are right. I do agree that it makes our work faster and will save our time. This discussion is just to remind everyone that we are starting to lose our memory just by letting our computer and mobile to remind us about the things. Even for simple mathematics we are using mobile phones these days rather than just trying mind calculations.
We can try to avoid those technologies that are not necessary for us right???

Ihough I also feel that modern technology makes us lazy, but in fact they only made us more active if you think little deeper.
Lazy people will always be lazy only, whether they use the modern gadgets or not.
You are talking about mobiles, computers, elevators etc.
With mobile only, you are able to communicate to persons, who are on the travel somewhere. So works don't have to be pennding because the person is not in office or home.
With the computers only today, you get your works done online,at your table. This
saves you lot of time which otherwise is wasted in shops, reservation counters, job interviews etc..etc..
Again,if there is no escalators, you will be wasting your time,in waiting for elevator(lifts)or walking all the way by using stair cases.
Ofcourse the modern technology not only brings comforts to us.But it also make us more sick like stress, obesity etc.But again we can not forget that modern technology in medical field only increased our life span.

I do accept the reason you give for mobile and computer. Of Course they do help us a lot. But can't accept the thing you are saying for escalator.. Lol.
People just get treadmill and keep running from the same place because of over weight problem. Instead they can climb the stairs when its needed. Lol.

I agree with you. There is a very simple example. Even if we tend to use the remote control to change TV channels. We even don't want to move and sit in the couch all the time. We don't have to wash the clothes by hands because we have washing machine. Everything is easier because of the advanced technology but we become to be lazier.

Ya you are right. And the next problem that arises out of this is obesity. Lol. We just wanted to maintain diets and do some exercise for reducing that. Instead we can do our works without using these machines. Haha.

i agree that modern technology makes us lazy , but it also makes our life convenient.many of our capacities reduce, but we can do more work using these modern technologies.i like it ,and i m going to use them wisely, like escalators.i may not use it when its not urgent.

Yup. You are right. If we wish to be more comfortable and convenient then that means we are already feeling lazy. Lol. And thats because of the modern technology.
Technology of course has too many good advantages. But we should be careful and selective in using it. Should avoid those things that are not necessary. Only if we use our brain to remember things, our brain will function. If we just start storing things in the mobile then our brain will lose functioning slowly. Finally we will be having poor memory.

Haha. Nothing will happen if I don't become a mylotter. Just because of the moder technology people are trying to earn sitting at home itself. Lol. Not even trying to get fresh air outside. I am doing this as a part time only and will not continue the same.
When days go on, we will just have to on and off the switches which will be our only job in this earth. All the other works will be done by the machines found.
I do accept that modern technology like computer and mobile are helpful in many ways but they are also making us too lazy. Probably we can avoid that features that are making us lazy.

this is just one of those thousand examples

I suppose that using a computer keyboard instead of writing it all out by hand, getting the feather off the bird, making the ink, etc. and also making the pots to put the ink in is a bother, but even then they had specialized people to do it. And it all depends whether without the benefits of modern technology, you had the ability to do mathematical calculations. I never was good at math. Now as for memory, I have to say things out loud since I have an aural and visual memory but not a look at the page memory. So of course, if I had my numbers in my cell (I have my sons's numbers) I do not need to remember them, but that is not because they are in the cell, it is because they have not told them to me out loud and I have not repeated them aloud.
OH and I prefer to take the steps rather then the escalator. Looking down the bottom while going down the top is very scarey. I am scared of heights.

vidhyavini,
Lazy - in the definition of the Encarta dictionary is "not wanting to work" "conducive to idleness". Unwilling to work and do anything else. So, in the light of this definition I am total in disagreement with your statement here.
Taking the example of what you have mentioned here about remembering important dates e.g. birthdays, wedding anniversaries, telephone numbers and etc., I cannot help but to mention the efficiency of how these records are kept and that the helpful interactive reminders that help us remember these dates and numbers. Yes, we may not be using so much to remember the numbers or dates but I am sure we are being well assisted to do other work more effectively and successfully.
Another view of mathematics, you may want to disagree here but I would think we may never even arrive at the answers if we do not know which method and formula to adopt to arrive at the eventual answers. The aid of technology will only help us determine a more accurate answer at a much relative shorter time. Thus, let us have more time at our disposal to be more conducive to more quality work and family time.
The fact that without a computer to an individual does not literally mean that it will be a standstill for him/her - it is just that the computer does provide him with a much better tool of assistance to manage his work, schedules, appointments, correspondences and networking. I do not ever doubt and see that technology could actually waste away lives. I just see the more of the other aspects - the positive and practical aspects. I have seen countries, industries, medical sciences and personal lives being changed for the better and achieving much more productive results than the traditional past.
So, I have to disagree with this prerogative, here.
Cheers.

Hello vidhyavini, In some ways I can agree with you Technology can make you lazy when used more than needed, I go way back when you had to get up and turn the channel on the TV, I remember being upstairs at home playing and hearing my father say boy come down here and change the channel. I would be like wow, lol.
And now we have som many toys it's almost crazy but most of them help us have time for other activities in some cases, however I wonder how many myloters out there are writting thier discussions with the voice active typing, ha ha. But if you think about it 20 years from now what will be out and how will they look back and say how did we get along with such a weak Internet.

Yes i agree with you there i think this technology will be even worse on the coming generation where they will have nothing to do but to sit and let the little box do the rest. But i like that picture you put there it exactly reflect how we people rely more on computers rather than doing things on our own
Now here we are making money here by just typing instead of going to work and do some hand works, but even at work you still be facing with the computer to do all the daily work, hmm seems like there is noway to run

That is true. New technology makes us lazy like me for example, I used to love writing using my hands in a notebook. But now, I always bring my laptop at school and just type. I am not used to to writing manually anymore when taking down notes. I find my handwriting now ugly.
Also, I seldom go to the library to find information or research in a book like encyclopedia. All can be found in the Internet. Thus, lacking me exercise as well.
Maybe, a laptop with a treadmill attached to it can be invented for lazy people like me hehehe :) I will definitely buy one.
