Dermatographic Urticaria (aka Dermatographia) is a skin condition where when rubbed or stroked by dull objects, the skin will become inflamed and raised. The raised and inflamed skin will return to normal after a certain amount of time. I've only found out this year that I have it and I'm interested in finding other people who have it as well as raising awareness of it.

I think we all experienced it right? I mean anything that's rubbed or stroked by dull objects on our skill will become inflamed and raised. I mean can even try it now because i'm sure it will go back later. I'm not sure about your case though, it may be something serious in a sense that the level of danger is much higher than on normal people. You must have this ultra sensitive skin that you need to watch for those things that may give a scratch on your skin.

It's not something everyone experiences =S My friends were in doubt when I told them it's a skin condition, saying "noo no no, everyone gets that!" and they didn't believe me until my condition was bad enough to be noticably different. My friends support me on the issue now though. It is a real skin condition-- hence raising awareness of it. The discerning factors: It only takes a couple of minutes for a raised welt to show and I'd say it takes a half hour for the inflammation to disappear and a good hour for the raised bump to fully disappear. Also, skin can be affected by light strokes. Drying myself off with a towel a little roughly will cause my skin to inflame. My friends have even tried different things: like slapping. If I get slapped by people, welts will show up: usually in the shape of their hand. A recent experience from the beach has shown my friend and I that even rough waves slapping agianst me will leave red marks on my body! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/lady_crystal6/3024862192_bf40175b1e.jpg A little sun I drew with a dull pencil.

Wow! i saw your photo and i'm now convinced! You're good at drawing! lol! Kidding (..but really, you're good at it). Your skin problem is kind of shocking to me when i saw your photo. I never thought it's possible. I guess you need the most hypoallergenic clothing available in the world! No malice ok, but brassiers and panties, do you get bumps too from their garters? You must be in a very difficult situation right now but it seems like you're getting used to it. What more can i say? i mean, the drawing bothered me really not in a icky manner though but more on what you're experiencing.
