Hi there and welcome to Mylot Traveling and in particular sitting for long periods of time, either on a plane or in a car can cause you to have blood clots in your legs. To reduce the risks of getting blood clots from sitting for long periods of time make sure the getup regularly and walk around frequently and if this is not possible tried to do leg exercises and ankle flexion exercises while in a sitting position. Another health hazard one faces while traveling is often diarrhea related to unclean water or water that has parasites our bodies may not be used to. To prevent this problem you can use bottled water as well as getting a prescription from your doctor to help you reduce the risk. As side from the two main pitfalls of traveling that I've touched on above, in general you should try it to wash your hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer. When we touch door handles, knobs and things frequently grasped by everyone, we can pick up those germs and make ourselves sick. The best way to avoid transferring germs from one person to another is to wash your hands frequently and after coughing or sneezing. Hopefully, if you take the above precautions you will have a safe, happy and healthy vacation and not become sick while you travel. Good luck to you, and happy Mylotting!

On a long haul flight sitting still for many hours could lead to deep vein thrombosis. So I have heard the suggestion that a person could wear tight socks. These can be bought at a chemist. It is wise to do leg moving whist sitting in a plane seat for man hours. It is important to drink clean water only whilst traveling to different countries. Luckily the water is safe in many taps if not it might be necessary to buy bottled water. I ate a salad in Asia and was really sick so it is wise to eat food that is safe. In some countries there are mosquitoes and sometimes these carry malaria or yellow fever. Some of Africa like Kenya and some of South America like Bolivia have have these sorts of risks. I sleep under a net and wear strong insect repellent. It is possible to buy anti malaria pills.
