Do you use your antiques, or just keep them safe?

If you have antique items at home, do you try to use them whenever it is practical to do so, or would you never do this and just store them safely in case they get damaged? I prefer antiques that can still be used, carefully if needs be, but I would rather be able to sit on a chair or use a table or make things using my antique tools, than just have them gathering dust. What do you think?

The beauty of my heirlooms is that they are old and USED... to have them just sit and gather dust would be a travesty. My Pop and grandparents worked hard to have the necessities and it shows on what they owned. I have Gramma's tin flour scoop in my dog food bin, the butter dish and the sugar bowl and matching creamer are always out. We use the family silver for more than parties... I feel them next to me through what they've passed on.
