I know that today is supposed to be a great day. We are inaugurating the first African American president. G W is gone. GOOD RIDDENS and thanks for absolutely NOTHING. I think the fact that he is making history because of race is good but not what we should be focusing on. Mr. Bush put us in quite an awkward position as far as finances go. I would be quite satisfied if the new president could fix that even a little. I am hoping that as my children grow they wont even know about recessions and bankruptcy. For me, myself, I am not going to get all excited and become r

I'm with you, we'll just have see how things work out. After all none of us know what the future will bring. But If help can come, I think Obama is man enough to make it happen.

I am willing to give anyone a chance to fix this mess we are in financially. I dont care personally if he was purple. Since they felt the need to ride the race card, I feel we should be honest and realize that hes a mixed race candidate. Not just African American. Why shouldnt his white heritage be acknowledged as well? I have mixed children and I teach them to honor all of their heritage. Not just what the political arena chooses for you. Its gonna be a downfall for him if he runs on race. I promise you that. I think that we need to forget what color any of the politicians are because they are rain-bowed. Green with envy of one another, Yellow bellied when it comes to standing up for ifs constituents. Pink when they get caught in a compromising situation. Purple from all the verbal punches they give each other. Black or White when ever it seems fit. Its all the same when you mix all those different colors it makes up the same color everytime for everyone. SH*T Brown! lol dl

I hope for the best. Like Obama's voting slogan, it's change. I hope he will bring a good change to USA and the world. I think this will be a good beginning. na

Actually most of the decline started in the Clinton administration with the deregulation of wall street...giving home loans to people that couldn't afford it..and other sources of new "freedoms" that got their start way back then. Also its has never been GW's choice for people to overextend themselves by relying on credit cards etc...when I was first married we didn't have a sense of entitlement like the younger generation do..we bought a starter home.....not a brand new one....we bought used cars.....not new ones....we worked our way up to having better things by working for them...But all that behind us we should look forward to the future..and lean support to the new president.

I am not looking forward to today at all! I voted for Bush both times and considering what Clinton left him with, I think he did the best he could with what he did. Did he make some bad choices, of course, but what President doesn't. No one is perfect, but I know he did what he thought was best for our country. I also voted for McCain, so I can't say much about this anugaration other than the fact that I won't be watching it. It has nothing to do with his race either. I think he's promised a lot of what he can't give and his morals are way off. I don't think he is the best decision for this country, but to me it is just another sign of the end times. God bless

I am a slight bit confused. When CLinton was in office we were in the black. We were in the best financial state we had been in for a long time. There was even talk about changing the two term only clause. Mr. Bush came in with an agenda. He wanted to be better than Daddy and punish all the people who talked aagainst him. He created alot of his own problems. Lets face it Clinton wasnt innocent. But if all he was guitly of is what men and women have been doing for centuries how can we use him as an excuse for the idiot Bush proved to be? In my opinion of course. dl

The president is just one person. He much have the house and senate backing him in his endeavors to straighten out the mess caused by allowing greedy people to remain in a position of power and rob others of all their savings (wall street and banks). If anyone is expecting this mess to all be cleaned up quickly they are going to be disappointed. I agree that the focus should be on Obama's platform and what he proposes to do for the country, not on his race, but I also think it might be a little incongruous (and quite delightful) if an African American actually could clean up the mess that the descendants of slave owners created.

I do agree. However since I was little everyone from television, to day to day people would say that mixed race children would never have a place in society. Reason being is that they werent white or black. THey were mixed. I never understood why it mattered. Now we elect a man of mixed race and all of sudden because it would be cool to say he is the first black man to hold office mixed is okay. They have made it so much about his color that I am wondering when it will be about experience. Since they have brought out the race issue I feel it only fair to be honest. When you think about it they didnt elect a blackperson he is mixed. Was he hired because he had the white aspect? Its not that far fetched. dl

Yes, definitely so. In fact the entire world was getting so tired of Mr. Bush for something or the other that think there’s a huge chunk of non-Americans who are celebrating with you, though for entirely different reasons. Without meaning any offence, I surely feel the USA seriously has to make a change in its foreign policy and I hope Mr. Obama does that in a way that would be of some benefit to every corner of the globe. Regarding recession, yes, that affects us too. in fact, being the no. 1 nation in the world, a very many things done by USA affects other directly or indirectly. So it’s a fervent wish that Mr. Obama handles his responsibilities in a more inclusive pattern.

Your guess is as good as mine. I think there will be some good and some bad. And where it is thermal warming or the deficit we will be in a decline for quite some time. We will have to just wait and see what happens.
