Do something for yourself

When was the last time you actually did something for yourself instead of putting yourself last? I know that I have other priorities to tend to and I like to put son ahead of my needs. I don't do too much for myself. That is just how it works sometimes.

I have always had the problem of doing things for my husband, even though we have only been married for going on a year now. It's as if once we got married, my priorities changed and I needed to do everything I could for everyone else. The belief has also strengthened now that I've had my daughter, but I'm starting to get a little down because I never get time to myself. Sure, I get to go out to the mall, but it's always with someone else. I'd like some alone time, which would be something for just me. But I understand that there are just some things that you can't help and do before you think about what you yourself need. Thanks for posting this, I don't feel quite so alone anymore.

Thanks for responding Syndarin. I see you are new here to myLot. I am glad you might feel a little better now. I think that a lot of women feel like they put themselves last. You are so right about the priorities after you get married. Things do chang but they can also be for the better. You are still a newlywed I see. I have been married twice and I will be married for five years this year. I will be forty-one on February 17. Time goes by very fast. Make sure that you do try to do something for yourself once in while.

Thank you for the advice. Everyone said the first year of marriage is the hardest, and it's definitely lived up to it's name so far. But I'm sure things have to get better. As I've posted in another of your discussions, I want this to last as long as it can. I hope your marriage will do the same.

I have found that old age solves much of this, you can find much more time for yourself. It's one of the good thing about being old.

I hope my marriage lasts to that point. I love seeing older couples together, especially when it's been 50 plus years. I want that for myself.
