http://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/ojjdp/221965.pdf Elizabeth Smart as many remember was abducted in 2002 & held for 9 months before being rescued. She has grown into a very intelligent & confident young lady. She has written a book titled You're Not Alone, The Journey from Abducted to Empowerment I don't know if any of you are interested in her thoughts. The book is being given away for free on Oprah.com. The above link should take you to the download site. It's in .pdf format. I know a lot of you are avid readers & thought you just might be interested in this book. I've downloaded it but no idea when I'll find the time to read it. For those of you who choose to read it, I hope you enjoy it. This young lady has taken an event that would have destroyed the life of an adult & turned it into a positive. She is every bit a mature young lady now who has taken her life back. Do you plan on downloading her book??? Will you get back to us & let us know what you thought about it???

I'll take a looksie. Not exactly sure this would be the type of book I would want to read though, but since it is free, might download it anyway. I love the way Oprah allows "free books" to be downloaded. I had downloaded the two books by Suzy Orman about finances but STILL haven't had a chance to read them. One book I wish one could download there...the one by Jenny McCarthy about "warrior" moms..mothers who have overcome great hardships, like her own battle helping her autistic son....the Oprah show yesterday had a woman who had serious problems after she gave birth...I mean REAL serious. Whatever bizarre medical condition it was resulted in both her legs and arms to be amputated..was crying the whole time watching, but what a powerful woman she is...she didn't do a "why me" thing but moved on

Yes, she had a flesh eating virus that cause both arms & legs to have to be amputated. It was a very sad story with a very heartwarming ending. I'm not sure what type of book this is going to be. I was just impressed with the strength this young lady has worked her way back up to. I feel this book was written more as therapy for her than information for us. She's not doing it for the money or she wouldn't be giving it away!!! I strongly feel she deserves the support of as many people as possible. I have heard a lot of people here say they love to read & I know that FREE is a GREAT price. She will know how many people download it. Some may be pleasantly surprised at what she had to say!!!
