With the economy the way it is now, there have been very few people taking vacations, because the figure that if they are let go, that they will be able to get paid for the vacation time that they never took. Do you believe this? Are you saving your vacation days for some sort of rainy day? How many days do you get?

Went to San Fran last year for a week. Wouldn't have been able to go except someone else was paying for the airline tickets and we stayed with my fiances Dad. First time I've ever been to CA- it was great. And I'm going to Pigeon Forge next month for 4 days- hoping for snow.

Not my first time on a plane, but it definitely wasn't the best time on one.

I'm sorry about that.... I had to fly back by myself. I don't mind the flying but I certainly don't like the airport itself.

Hi hdjohnson! I've got 17 days this year and I always try to save them for a rainy day. I also get holidays off with pay so it's easier to save them. I may go on vacation this year but it kind of depends on how things sre looking at work.

The last time was during Christmas of 2008. Every year we would go to my hubbies hometown in Leyte. We live in Cebu.

We haven't gone on any kind of vacation in abt 4yrs and that wasn't much of a vaction it was more like the in-laws draging us to the middle of nowhere. Prior to that it was 9yrs ago that we went somewhere to enjoy ourselves. I don't get vacation time so I can't speak of it. My hubby does and he usually ends up burning up his time for when he's sick as they don't get sick time. Or He ends up burning it up during the slow season when they don't have alot of working hours so he still has a check and we can keep food in our fridge & keep the bills paid. If you loose your job due to the economy it depends on if the company is giving a severence pkg or not that would include unused vacation days.

In-laws, can't hate em, can't live without em. Might as well live peacefully as possible with em. My job offered severance packages when they did a downsize in 2001. It included bonus money and unused vacation time.

I actually got laid off from my job a week before I had planned to take some vacation days. I had not specific vacation plans, but I did need some time away from work. When I received my final pay, I got paid for 48 vacation days, that is all I had accrued by the time I got laid off. There was no vacation for me in 2008, but in November of 2007, I did go to Vegas for four days and five nights. It was great, I really hope we can get it together and be able to go again when things get back on track.

WOW 48 days for vacation. I would have liked that as well. I only get 16, if I stay with this employer for 6-7 more years, I'll have 21. But we shall see. I'm sure things will get back on track for you.
