If you were to have a rebirth as an animal, which animal will you choose?

Hinduism strongly advocates rebirth. It says it's all based on your Karma. Hinduism also says birth as a human being is rare to get and it should not be wasted in mad worldly pursuits, but to look for God and merge in Him (Yoga). If human birth is so rare to get, is it likely that the next birth could be an animal? Quite possible, say saints. Ramana Maharshi says that even spiritually evolved persons too might take a birth at times as an animal just to get rid of some of their past samskaras (deep rooted mental tendencies). If you were given an option of taking birth as an animal in your next incarnation, which animal would you prefer and why?

Dear friend, I would like to be cow if as an animal I was in North of India where cows are worshipped. If in artic region I would like to be a penguin, if in big seas as a dolpin, in wild forest I would prefer none other than lion.So on differs according to the place I am to reborn.

That's a good question. If I was able to rebirth..I would like to be a BIRD. Because I'm dreaming of flying for quite sometimes and even If it's only a dream it's like real. In real life, I am afraid of heights and for real If I can fly I will fall easily. But If I had a chance to become animal, I would like to fly and feel the wind blows on my face. I would like to travel and to be free, I hope this would come true.

I have the firm conviction that I am attaining MOKSHA after this birth and I am not going to be born again. The reason is the belief in our culture indoctrinated by our Acharya that with'surrender'[baranyasam] we would not be born again. I wish to be positive about this and so I do not wish to be born again at all.

I would have to go with the giraffe. Most other wild animals don't really bother them, and I've never really heard of poaching giraffes. So I guess I'd be pretty safe out in the wild. Plus I'm really short as a human, so the height would be pretty neat for a change.

That's really cool. You can always have a "giraffe's eye view of things" which could be just a shade lower than a bird's eye view!

I think I would be one of those Giant sea turtles. One that actually makes it to adulthood. They live very long lives, get to go all over the place and no one really messes with them. They seem to take life pretty slow and have a built on house where ever they go. They are also good in water and on land.

That's really interesting. If you happen to be in a zoo, you will see your son, grandson, great grandson, great great grandson and think, "Oh! poor men! Their life is so transient and fickle!"
