For those of you who kept up with it will remember that I started a discussion a year ago in February when my daughter Amanda went out on her first date when she was 21 years old. Yes, it truly was her first date because the Lord just hadn't let her meet the one he had chosen for her. Well, it was a year ago in February and she and Mark are still seeing each other every weekend!! He still drives 70 miles from Fulton, Mississippi to get here. They are still talking about getting married but he wants her to finish college first. She is hoping to graduate in Spring of 2010 so it won't be much longer. :) By this time next year I may be talking about an engagement!!

When you are talking with friends, time passes fast. I think a serious dating situation is exciting for parents, but also sometimes makes them a little cautious. I am glad Mark is someone you can accept with open arms.

Hi There! Yes, my husband and I will be happy to have Mark in the family. He is a very fine man. My husband and I have talked about it and agree that even though we can't choose who they are going to date, just give advice if we don't approve, that if we could have chosen for Amanda we couldn't have chosen anyone better for her than Mark. Good to hear from you!! God Bless!! SheliaLee

Oh good! I'm glad Amanda and he are still together, and are taking each step with full knowledge of what they are doing, and are doing it in accordance of what the Lord wants for them. How is the situation with her grandma? If I remember correctly she had an issue with Mark because of some of his minor differences.

Hi There! Yep things are still going strong with Amanda and Mark. They talk about their faith in God and how they feel about certain things quite often which I'm so proud of. It is important to discuss these things. The situation with my mother-in-law has greatly improved. Once she finally agreed to meet Mark she liked him. They talked quite a bit and he answered any questions that she had. She even bought him a Christmas gift, can you believe that LOL!!! But we are thankful that situation improved because it was really hard on Amanda. She was starting to not even want to talk to her granny and I hated to see that happen. The Lord works all things out. God Bless!! SheliaLee

I'm looking forward to it although I know I'll need many boxes of kleenex LOL!! She has always been a home body and it will take adjusting for her to live in Mississippi, although it isn't that far away, and it will really take adjusting for me. But at the same time I'm very happy for her. My husband and I have told several people, "We know we couldn't pick someone for her to date and marry, but if we could have we couldn't have picked anyone better than Mark." He treats her like the sun rises and sets in her and she feels the same way about him.

Well thats good that they've decided to wait on getting married, I think all young people should do that, wait till they're finished with school and are financially stable. He must be in love to drive that far every weekend, but didn't we all do that at one time in our lives? haha. You may be writing about an engagement this time next year, it will be exciting.

Well won't that be nice for Amanda. It shows responsibility and knowledge on their behalf to not be in a huge hurry and come to find it wasn't right. If they're still crazy about each other after even this long I'm very sure they'll be fine. Good to have you back posting. Have a Blessed Day my friend!!!

I think they will be fine too GrandMa. There was one weekend about two weeks ago that he didn't come on Saturday because I was sick with the flu and he didn't want to catch it, which I didn't blame him. I was avoiding everyone myself. But by Monday I was feeling better and he hurried on down here to see her. I couldn't help but laugh at he and Amanda both. They were nearly having a fit to see each other LOL!! He also came the Saturday after that so she got a double treat!!! LOL!!

Good for her. Seems like she waited for someone good in her life and I for one am very happy for her. It's not easy meeting someone who you can get along with and all. I wish her the very best and they look good together.
