Yesterday I saw a t-shirt that read "C'mon, George W Bush wasn't THAT bad" and I had to burst out laughing. Now that he has been retired from his old job for about ten weeks... what do your think... was he (and his administration) THAT bad?

eeeh krap, where do I begin. T.A.R.P., the Patriot Act, F.I.S.A, his attempt at the elinination of Posse Comaitatus, the fear mongering used to push them, a veritable schmorishborg of constitutional usurpitions, twisting and ignoring to choose from. Up untill now, he and Clintion were probably the two biggest front runners in this department, though it now seeems Obama is a strong up and comming new usurper in this department.

I have to laugh at all the Obamabots who are convinced Bush did nothing right, then defend Obama when he has claimed a lot of Bush's policies as his own!!!!

Yeah, bigoted fools are rarely willing to acknowledge any good in the target of their mindless hatred.

Oh, yeah...they were THAT bad, alright... My friend "X" has already listed some of the more notable reasons, but allow me to give my own - Iraq, Katrina, FISA wiretapping, the Patriot Act, the limits on stem cell research, the expansion of the so-called "Conscience Clause", his opposition to SCHIP, torture...I know I'm forgetting something. However, even without all of the above he'd have been "THAT bad" simply for choosing the D1ck Cheney as his V.P. Annie

She doesn't care what Obama does, it only matters what Obama does. Obama could be a carbon copy of Bush and Annie would still hate Bush and love Obama.

He was bad. First he was good, then it became to common to think he was good so the bad backlash began. Now it has become cool to think he is bad, so the tide swings back to he was not so bad. Americans can be silly with all this free thinking stuff.

At the end he had a higher approval rating than congress. Even Rush had better numbers that congress. I wonder why that is? Are they the problem?

Could you elaborate on that? I think it would help others appreciate what you are trying to say. Do not be intimidated, either of you.

I think that "W" did the best that he could with what he had to work with. And frankly, Obama hasn't done all that well since he took office. Do I need to say the words bailout and Nancy Pelosi to prove that?

I was never a fan of Bush but I'm willing to wear a t-shirt that says George W Bush wasn't as bad as Barack H. Obama. Honestly my recent study of U.S. History and presidential administrations lead me to see Bill Clinton was not as great as I originally thought he was and may have infact been worse that Bush also. Jury's still out on that one.

Thanks... Clinton's legacy, like missed opportunities, will show us what we had really lost. I kinda like him and his work better as an ex-President.

On President Reagans watch we had the Marine Barracks destroyed in Lebanon - response he destroyed the Iranian Navy. President Clinton had the USS Cole, WTC 1, 2 embassies bombed - response we blew up a baby food factory, bombed an empty training camp (after warning al Quida friends). President Bush had9/11 and took the fight to them. Brought the terrorist together in one place to fight and no on our soil. He kept the pressure on Iran's nuclear program. We enjoyed one of the longest economic growth periods. Tried several ties to correct the housing mess but was blocked by a Democrat filibuster from getting any new reforms. He put government money into promising adult stem cell research. I would say he did a good job, not that I Agree with everything he did.

That depends on the definition of "that bad". He did a bunch of stupid things, and passed a lot of stupid stuff, and president who passes any legislation that infringes on our rights is pretty bad in my opinion. That said, he didn't destroy the country. He may have contributed to the process of the government whittling away at our rights, but he's not the first president to do so, and he won't be the last. He did bad things, though with good intentions, I'm sure. He's not as bad as some people make him out to be.

He was not bad at all. If one is really knowledgeable about the financial world, than one would understand that 9/11 should have resulted in as bad if not worse recession than we have now and G W kept that from happening. It is amazing that he kept the economy going as long as he did with all the disasters that occured while he was in office: 9/11, Katerina, the other hurricanes, trying to keep more attacks from happening on U.S. soil which he did.

I'll never claim to be a George fan, but at this point I'd like to have one of those t-shirts.

I didn't think he was all that bad. He did the best he could. Just people were frustrated as the economy started to go down so badly (that didn't just start last summer) and the war drag on forever. Obama isn't all that bad either, just extremely clueless and he looks more and more like a puppet whose strings are being pulled. He just has no idea about what he is doing to our economy and what it will cost in the longterm. He is like a little kid with a brand new toy, he wants to play, have fun, push his own agenda, and simply not think about the consequences. I wish Americans would rethink how they vote. Most people don't vote for the best candidate (in any position) but for the lesser evil. Problem is, they don't really like either. It's like there are only two candidates available. A vote for who you believe is the best candidate has never been a wasted vote. IMO, a vote for the lesser evil, if there is a candidate available that is more to your liking, well that is very much a wasted vote.

I think George W was ok as a president..he confronted an awful time in the oval office, had to deal with terrorism, 9/11, you name it. and despite all he was able to keep his charisma and know how to get away from the questions of all the peacelovers out there who do not know what terrorism or loosing someone from it feels like. He defended USA and the civilized world as we know it given the fact that ..let's face it'''there is no other power on earth that can call themselves civilized...chinese and russians...my god they are barbarians for crying out loud!
