My neighborhood was lucky this past Friday.

Many have seen on the news, or the weather channel of the storms that ripped through here Friday afternoon. I don't live far from the areas that got hit by tornados. We were also lucky that kids were out of school because of some teacher thing. It was scary watching the weather and hearing Murfreesboro, TN, but not knowing what part of Murfreesboro it was at. I had my mom calling to tell me to get to some place safe, she was freaking out. I later found out, it was just right up the road from us. It takes me about 2 minutes to get my daughter to school, and her school was in the area hit. Another one touched down on the other side of us, maybe 1-2 minutes from us going East. My husband left maybe 2-3 minutes before they touched down, and he actually saw one of them as he was driving to work. He said he saw people crammed together under a under pass. It was like a scene out of Twister. In the link below, there is video footage of one about to cross I-24. Before Friday, I have only seen pictures of the damage on the news of areas hit in my state and across the US. Today, I saw first hand of homes destroyed, trees that had to been there for a good 30-40 years out of the ground as if lifted from the roots and sat down on the ground. My neighborhood was so lucky, if it changed direction, I don't know if I would be sitting here typing about it. Below is a link to one of the news channels in our viewing area, it has video's of the tornados that came through Friday afternoon. This isn't much of a discussion, but to make it one. Has anyone ever seen, or was very lucky to have one miss your neighborhood? http://www.wkrn.com/Global/story.asp?S=10164304&nav=menu5_2

I honestly have to admit that I'm glad that my family and myself are safe. I still can't get over the fact of how close it was to us. I was actually calm and collected during the storm. I have been through countless tornado scares, hurricanes on shore and out to sea. It's just harder when you have kids and pets.

It is good you and your family were lucky. I am sorry for the victims. I remember reading articles about tonados and precautions. Hope prompt measuers are taken to the rescue, and injuries and damages brought to the minimum. Take care.

Thank you. Prompt measures was taken directly after the storms went away. They are still going on at this moment. Again, thank you for the kind words.
