I like watch to news every morning, and this was one this morning; A man who got divorce by SMS. ..come on, is not fair... A sms in my opinion is to send a good message, send love, greatings...but don t got your divorce by sms... This news was from Saudi...an egyptian man who work abroad, send a msn his wife...very short..."I LL DIVORCE' And this was all, he was divorced, and woman was a "free" woman. i will check my SMS now with some fears..just kidding, but how this is possible? What do you think about this? Divorce by sms

much of what muslims do... makes little to no sense whatsoever, to me... telling someone they are divorced without so much as any paper work or judge or mediator is wrong.. We live in a new century.. their laws need updated to match the times and technology!

Oh!I hear men in Saudi are allowed up to four wives. There existed distinct gender discrimination between men and women in Saudi.Fortunately,we don't live in Saudi.Women are no human rights in Saudi.

haha must have been because of the technology that everything is possible with the technological advances. for me, i think i will never accept a divorce or anything of legal stature via text. hardcopy is still of course the most acceptable. sms is not even accepted as evidences. hehe

This reminds me of the shortest telegram message sent, when an Author was going on holiday but was asking his publisher beforehand about sending news of success of his latest book, due to be published..While on holiday,He sent the message "?" to the publisher..in Return,He got "!" People will use any intermediary method to pass on news they'd rather not give face to face,or are unable to..the "Dear John.." Letter became infamous in WW2,I think, when Soldiers in the war found by this means they'd been dumped..In more recent times, dumping someone by fax was considered poor taste, and now relationships are being given (Literally!) There has to have been more behind this story though, this text message can't just have arrived out of the blue like this with no warning to his Wife (Ex?)to end their Marriage..No Arbitration,no Arguments before,no Other Men or Women?! Working out of the country is NOT Grounds for Divorce!

i think it is really crazy to do so. some stuff are better discussed and i think divorce is one of them. i think it's really crazy to tell someone you want to divorce him/her by just sending her a text message. it's hard to talk about things like divorce through text. when you decide to divorce with someone, it is better to talk it out and settle it in a FORMAL way because that's how it's supposed to be.

Does egyptian have same laws like Muslims does? I mean Muslims gets divorce by saying only one word "Talaq" three times. Sometimes back I heard that a Muslim couple got married on phone. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, they were not able to meet on the wedding date. The priest, bride & groom were on conference call. I guess, If people can get married on phone, then further step is, they can get a divorce by sms too... what do u think??

Thats true...Divorce should be a last option...considering the circumstance like kids... as they get more affected with divorce.

Its kinda unfair to break a news like that through sms...something this heavy should be discussed personally. But hey, even courting someone is done through sms as well...so I guess its no shocker that even divorce is done through this as well. tsk tsk.

To get divorce by SMS, Well this is first heard, and Im a bit stunned as to how the views of people has changed so dramatically. Staying with a person, spending happy moments and then finally just by an SMS, they are divorce, the world is moving too fast I think, ;-)
