A lot of people collect post cards because they are cheap souviniers. Does anyone send them anymore? Does anyone collect them? Does anyone recieve them at leat occasionally? You do remember that you can still buy postcard stamps and they are a little cheaper than regular snail mail stamps, right? Let's start a revolution!

Hi macdingolinger I always tend to send postcards when I am away on holiday to family and friends. I think it is much more personal to send a card than an email. When one receives a postcard, it is always nice to know that someone was thinking of you

yeah, I save all the ones I get too! Maybe I should take a hint and send more as well! This was cool: I sent my daughter a couple of postcards from Chicago. Recently I was at her house and they were stuck on her fridge! That was kinda cool....

Hi Zone! I hear you on that one. I try to send them when I am away from family no matter what the reason! I know I really enjoy getting them too! And it really is a very warm feeling to know someone was thinking of you and took the time to send a card!

I sent some just the other day to my family. I live on the west coast and they live in the South. Since I can't come home as much as I would like, I send postcards when I go someplace cool or cards for special occasions.

That's so very cool! I moved to Chicago in the summer and my family is all in the south so I sent post cards to family every week. I chose different members different times or found particular ones that I thought one would like. I found out later, they were all comparing who got what and if I hadn't sent one in awhile they were upset! They kept count to make sure I sent the same amount to each one!

Mine do too, and you have to send a different one to each one because they do compare notes.

The last time I received a postcard was ages ago. It was from a brother of mine who was overseas on a holiday. Now when my relatives travel overseas, they don't write postcards anymore, maybe an occasional email to tell me what's happening on their holiday. In this internet age where e-cards are more popular, I still get some physical cards (not postcards) sent through the post like New Year's card, birthday card and Christmas card. They are definitely not as many as previously before the days of the internet.

The internet has surely slowed down the post card world. I imagine if the truth were known that birthday cards and other types of card sending has been impacted as well. I appreciate ecards don't get me wrong. The time it takes to puruse through and make a selection is valuable. But there is just something about getting the old school post card. Perhaps we can start a revival!

I wish someone will send me a postcard. Anyway I think people do send postcards. My sister's friend went to florida for a trip and she sent my sister a postcard. That was so nice of her. Occassionally I don't think so. I only think people will send it through trips. I like things that are handwritten. it is more meaningful that way.

Yes, I agree it is very meaningful to recieve something that is hand written. We see too little of that these days! I appreciate ecards as well, but there is something about getting a card someone took the time to write thoughts on and even to address and send through the mail!

Oh, i am a postal worker and yet i don't collect postcards! Shame on me! But i have some of those that i bought from my own stamp accountabilities and i am just eager to send to you after reading this discussion. Can i? I mean i would appreciate it very much if you accept my friend request then if you could send me your P.O. Box address through private message? That would be contributing a little on my part to my post office's revenue generating activities.

I don't actually do the delivery but i have tried that when i went through one of the letter carriers' routes to see how accessible it is. My first two assignments were in post offices with 18 and 9 personnel but at present i am handling an office with just three window tellers. It is one of the five post offices located in different strategic places in one locality. It is just an acceptance office and no deliveries. I just want to say thank you for people like you who still patronize the what you call "snail mail" despite the advanced technology we are enjoying now.

That is so awesome!!! Do you see very many post cards come through the mail when you are delivering mail? My sister also delivers mail. I will add you as a friend and send you my PO box! This is exciting!!!

It would be great to send and receive postcards again. I havent seen one, let alone receive one, in ages! With the coming of emails, I suppose postal letters have become passe. Egreetings have replaced greeting cards and email updates/IM offline messages have become the norm for communicating. However, it does sound like a great idea, provided many ppl show interest in it

I enjoy sending the now "old school" post cards. I still enjoy the techno versions too! But there is just something more substantial to me about sending or recieving an actual tangible post card. Plus it's nice to get something other than bills and flyers in the mail! :)

It's interesting that you collect post cards. I usually collect thimbles and magnets! I enjoy sending the post cards to family and friends when I go places. The post card trading group sounds like lots of fun! If you find out about it let me know... it has to be an interesting group to be a part of!!

I like to collect post cards. I also like to send post cards to my boyrfriend, it makes him happy when ever he receives a post card from me. Sending post cards are cheap as it only cost me PHP13 to Belgium, sending greeting cards is expensive as the postal fee is PHP110 (not including the price of the greeting card yet).

Yes, it is much less expensive to send a post card than a reagular greeting card. ANd I can usually write a note quickly on the post card. Seems a little more personal than a card someone else wrote!

I have sent and received postcards. I like to send them and to receive them. They are something that I would find to be useful and they help me remember my travels from place to place. I do enjoy postcards and think that giving and recivng thme are good. It is always fun to remember where you have been and where you are going to go.

With you on that! I love to recieve them and send them! EAch has its own rewards and benefits! There isn't anything like digging through old memorabilia and finding post cards that have either been sent or recieved!

Well, I haven't sent one in awhile, but I still get them from time to time. I'm really never gone long enough to want to send somebody a post-card. My mom often buys post cards because she likes the pictures on the back and wants to put them in her photo albums. Are postcard stamps really cheaper? I'd never heard that. Maybe I should send postcards out more often.

Post card stamps are like 29 cents now! That's a little cheaper than the regular stamp! I collect postcards with interesting pictures too! Some day I would like to make my own since I enjoy photography as well!

That's pretty neat. I have wondered if many people still sent post cards. I send them to family and friends. I usually choose them from sites I see where I live. It's kinda like sending a piece of what I am doing to them and somehow in my mind includes them!

I enjoy postcards as well. Not only are they helpful for communicating to folks you know, you can also go join up at http://www.postcrossing.com and sign up to send and receive postcards to and from people all over the world. It has been awhile since I have been able to participate, but I have really enjoyed getting random postcards from all sorts of places. When you send one, you get one...and I believe to start out you can send around 5 at a time. When you receive one back, you register it on the site, and that opens the sender up to have their address thrown back into the pool for someone else to send to. It's a neat idea, and a lot of fun. Just thought I would throw that in. :)
