Right now my son is 2 years old and I'm glad that he's already success in toilet training. Even though I have to admit that it's rather late when I teach him the lesson. I begin to toilet training him when his 18 months, I think this age is appropriate for him since he can speak fluently at that age and understand the training very well. When you start toilet training for your child? At what age is appropriate to teach toilet to a child?

Some of my friends begin the toilet training when their child are at 12 month or even earlier. So they think that I'm a little bit late to train my boy. But I think, it's better for me to train him at 18 month, since he's ready and fully understood the training.

Each child is different. They show signs as to when they are ready. My son was fully trained by 21/2 and I started training him at 18 months. He was afraid of potty and toilet seat. Only to pass motion,my son asks for diapers. Other than that, he never uses diapers including night time. He is three right now.

I did not train my daughter until she was 2-1/2 years old. Every time I took her to the bathroom before that time, she would scream if she even got close to the toilet. We tried the little trainer potties and all sorts of things. When she was trained, she was trained in a day. Grandma, bless her heart, babysat one day and she came over with a bag full of fancy "big girl" underwear. My daughter loved the idea so much that even though she did not like the toilet, she was so happy to have the frilly fancy underwear. For some reason she hated the baby potty worse than the regular toilet, so I donated it to charity. After doing day care for several years, I have found that each child is very different and they will give you signs that they are ready. My mother had a wonderful philosophy that people worry too much about the timing of when children will do certain things. She asked me if I had ever seen an 18 year old with a pacifier, blanket, bottle, or diapers. I relaxed after that and enjoyed every childhood phase. Now that my daughter is in her twenties, I realize that the time passes so quickly and all those steps are very fleeting even though they don't seem like it at the time. What a wonderful thing to be able to raise your son. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Yeah, I'm agree with you. I think when the times has come, a child will give us a signal, when they're ready to start the training. Funny thing is : my son also hate the little trainer potties, so we use a Winnie The Pooh potty seat and it works, he love it . At this age he love to mimic his parent attitude, so using the same toilet as his parents is a some part of that mimicked action. Thanks and happy Mother's Day to you to
