Do we really hate "Zero(0)"?

Zero is the number which no one likes to have for his/her discussion. We don't like being on zero, 1. be it earning for a day or 2. respones to our discussion, isn't it? But do we really hate it. See the list: 1. The highest star rating "10" has a Zero in it! 2. All the milestones, like 100, 200, 500 ,1000 etc has even more Zeros in it. 3. Even the minimum payout also has a Zero(10 dollars) in it. So, I have only two reason to hate it but lot more to celebrate, don't you think? Please share!

I don't hate this number '0' as I think that everything started from zero and ends on zero. Like in this example of cricket, when a new batsman comes to the crease, at that time he is zero not out and he is awaiting to reach to the magical figure of hundred which contains two zeroes. Even sometimes, it is possible that the bowler thinks that one day he would bowl a dream over and won't gave a single runs, that would be 0 runs scored from his quota of overs which is not mandatory but still zero has got great importance in our lives!!

Yes, that's a nice feeling as we reach to that magical figure in mylot of 500. As I had to struggle a lot early on and thought would never make it but just dedication and hard work kept me going and I achieved my goal of getting to 500 before 3 months of my joining and now I am looking forward to have a 1000 side by my username in faster time than what I took in reaching previous 500!!

Hey sanu! EVERYTHING starts from ZERO which makes it the most important number that there is! Whatever begins, whether it is life, a drive in the car or your membership on myLot, it ALL starts from zero. If there is no zero there is no beginning. The opposite is also true when it is negative. When we do bad things, liking smoking, spending more money tha we have in the first place or letting the ironing pile up (because we spend too much time on myLot ) then we try to get back to ZERO which makes it important again. If a smokes is getting through a packet a day and decides to give up, he wants to get back to zero. If get overdrawn at the bank we try to get our balance backto zero too. When the pile of ironing grows, even then t's best when it's done and there is no more to iron, zero. Many people choose to stay single (or to go back to being single) too making zero a VERY important number for them. Zero partner so that they can get on with their lives as they please

So it is like: 0-1-2-....-50....100--- A good thing. but 100-99-98......-50.....1-0 --- A bad thing. A perfect example of the importance of Zero. In both case, people would understand the meaning of Zero becaue the goal is to reach two(2) zero in first case and one zero in second case. Zero partner so that they can get on with their lives as they please I know a guy who choose to have no partner so that he can have new girl every weeek to enjoy!

Let us take it this way... Zero and his nine other siblings are called digits. I like zero when it is standing towards the right of his siblings but not when it is alone or is standing to the left of others.

Interesting discussion huhu... I am a hero and you are a zero. hehe...Look at the statement lol. The meaning of zero is different and ten is certainly different. Just imagine that after 9 there was no one-zero(10) ten and instead of it there were some other symbol for ten. Do you know about a fact about the history of numbers. Zero was invented later than the digits from 1 to 9. And 0 came in the last time, that gave birth to the present number system that we feel too much perfect. Why? Just because we are used to it. Imagine that there was no 9 at all and after 8 we had 10 hehe. Yes there is that number system.i.e octal number system. But not used often. I don't have to hate zero, I have to hate the meaning of zero hehe.... happy mylotting...Really a unique type of discussion. Didn't really got the idea what exactly to explain, so it went on rubbish stuffs. Don't mind...Enjoy

Hi sanadoodoo...Leave it to you to notice that That simply means that zero can mean nothing, or everything!! I would love to have 100,000,000,000, dollars! I guess its that one other number that gives the zero a big boost.

Hi Sanyorita... This is the beauty of Zero. Even if it is nothing but when it gets a support from only one number as low as (1), it still can be as strong as 1 million or even bigger. I would love to be a zero, so that many could love me!

It is nice to know that you are no longer having a discussion with zero repsonse. My advise is to add every person as your friends in your friends list who so every repies to your discussion. In this way more person can see your discussion on the tab, "Friends started"!

Don't you know San? ZERO is always a HERO...! And all HEROS always start from ZERO...! Mathematicians of ancient times from India have given this world the decimal counting system, which starts from zero. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are the ten important weapons of our worldwide accepted decimal counting system! So the role of zero is very important as starting and unavoidable. Some persons may hate zero thinking irrationally, but it is the begining of every begining! This must be remembered always! I do have to admit I get a little upset if I start a discussion and no responds to it. But I know that sometimes I start a discussion that some people really might not be into. I usually tend to respond to as many people as I can but sometimes I will see a discussion that I cannot relate to. Take care and happy mylotting as well.

Well I am again posting back in this discussion. Last time I was reading about something and I came to the story of this zero and come to know that how important the zero is, and in fact the most important of all.... The story starts with the necessity of counting. The Greeks system of counting was incomplete because of zero. They had only been using the digits from 1 to 9. And on the other hand, the ancient Indians or Hindus were using the digit from 0 to 9 from the very early time. At that time, zero had the meaning of sunyata. The Hindu system of counting was more powerful than the Greek and Roman system because of the including of the zero. Only this zero made the great difference. And then when the Greek found this system of Hindus, they took the zero from their system and then the new system became popular in the whole world as the Hindu-Arabic system. Well everything in this universe is based on the concept of zero, everything. Take the example of this concept. We represent the null set as {} and it has cardinality zero. And now if we write {{}}, now it has cardinality one. And again if we write {{},{}}, now it has cardinality two. And again if we write {{},{},{}} it has cardinality three. Look how we are getting something from nothing, isn't it weird. This depicts the importance of zero. This comes to show the basis of the reality of this world really. Lord Buddha, had reached to the ultimate truth in which he told everything in this world is empty in its own form. This is really the interesting concept. Isn't it. The study of sub atomic particles like electron, proton which was very small. Then scientists discovered quarks that were even smaller particles than the electron, proton and neutron. And now finally, the quantum physics tells that everything in this world is empty. i.e emptiness is the basic of everything. Now, don't you thing, how important zero is....

Hi Sanu, I love a zero, for zero is the starting point in any case. Your life began from a zero. and if zero had not been there there would be no Bill Gates, Ambani, Tata and all. Just remove the zero from 100000000. You will be left with a one (1). So the more you are in love with zeros the more chances are there that you would prosper.

Hi Rajib, Couldn't respond to your discussions as these days am a little busy. Wow, that is some thought but you have given me a another questions for an interview: if you are given an opportunity to remove a digit from 10000000, which digit would you like to remove? Well, even if I am in love with zero, still I ca'nt get anything by taking all the zero in my pocket, can't I? I mean they will have Rs 1 but I will have only zeros!

well 0 usually has such a negitive meaning that most people think of as bad. but it has its pourpose. the number 0 is just another number to me so it does not concere me too much.

I personally adore the number zero, one of the more unique numbers out there. It was totally ignored (In most parts of the old world) and its use was limited as a spacer between sequential numbers until Brahmagupt defined it and its behaviors. Its a really fascinating number, anything multiplied by zero yields zero and division by zero was the first mathematical definition of infinity, and add a zero to the right of a number and it boosts your pay ten times! I just love it.

Hmm, let me list all of your points about zero: 1. It wasn't used at all in old days. 2. It was defined by Brahmagupt(was it Brahmagupt or Aryabhatt?) 3. Anything multiplied by 0 is zero. 4. When it comes to $, having many many zeros behind the first figure is a delight. You'll be a rich man but when it comes to discussions in mylot having a zero is like a plague and at all cost am trying to avoid getting it. Fortunately I have yet to encounter any of my discussion having zeros. I am happy that my discussions are well received and I would be saddened if any of my discussions are met with zero.

I hate it my friend when this discussion would have a zero response and I can't help at least give you my point of view over what you stated here, yeah, you're right we have to at least look into the other side of the coin. There are always a positive side of everything and I hope that we all could be able to take a grasp on that. I don't mind anyway if I have a zero earning especially knowing that I am not making a post or responding to one, in short I deserve just that and no big deal to me as well if I got a zero response, but hey thanks to those who did make the effort to respond to a friend's discussion.

Hi Torch, I would not like to have zero response to my discussion and that is why I have limited my self to one or two discussion a day. So, that I can think alot before starting one. I am glad to my friends and you that my discussion page contain only one or two discussion with zero response. On the other hand, I would not like having zero earnings after me making efforts doing posting and all, you never know that when your posting will be going to be deleted!

That's a crazy insight LOL Yeah, I agree that most numbers that we use have zeros in it but they're not equivalent to zero themselves :D I guess that's the kind of logic that makes people hate zero. Zero by itself is baaad, zero followed by a number is useless (in terms of numeric numbers and not numbers as representations like cellphone numbers), zero following a number is very, very good :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!
