I started a load of laundry a few minutes ago. My laundry room is in the back of the house. Me and my future husband was outside. When he decided to come in and get something to drink. So he used the backdoor which is located in laundry room. I heard him yell. I start to run to the door and notice water going everywhere. He finds that the drain thing come loose and was dumping all the water in the house. Has this happened to any of you? Or has anygthing happened to you while you was doing laundry like that before?

That amost happened to me, but from inside of the washing machine. My clothes were flooded with water by then so I had to ring them all out by hand.

For me everyone should be careful in doing everything such as the chores inside the house because sometimes it can cause trouble and accidents if we aren't too careful about it. Me and my family are so much careful about doing things especially using the things that are using electric because these things can normally cause accidents which we don't really think can happen anytime. In that case, you are just using the machine to wash clothes and that machine is plug into the outlet of course. In our house, i never let anyone use the machine if there's nobody there watching it everytime .I don't know if it's stupid to do that but for me i am just trying to avoid the incident just like what happen in your situation. We cannot assure everything to work perfectly all the time that concerns electrical and even not electrical things. So that's why at home we are careful about the outlets and wirings even though it is mounted on the wall because we have puppies that can unplug things anytime and what if the floor isn't dry and then somebody plug it again. So for me situation like yours is just a good lesson for some people who don't watch things over for what they are doing at that time. Another thing also is not leaving the kitchen while you are cooking something because the it can cause accidents in some instance.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me, but in the future if it does I would definitely worry about fixing the pipe rather than posting it to mylot. Make sure you get as much of the water out as possible, because mold can grow and everyone knows mold can lead to bad health. Not only that, but it can also rot away the wood. That can lead to structural problems if not fixed!!

It use to happen alot at my parents house. They have an older home and this problem happened quite frequently, the drain that connects to our washer is also tied in on the same line to our dishwasher and kitchen sink, so if we had a full load in our washing machine and was running the dishwasher at the same time, the drain pipe for washing machine would overflow, and cause a mess on our backporch. For some reason though our kitchen sink would never backup, almost as if the kitchen sink and dishwasher had the rite of way when it came to drain liquids.

I experiences like that but not in our laundry. Our experience in our house and it is inside the comfort room. One of my housemate forgot to close the faucet and that time there is no water supply. Early morning we heard water flowing from the comfort room, and there are lots of water overflowing and some of it went into our living area. It created too much mess in our place and all of us got up early just to clean it up.

I don't know if anything like that has happened, not that I can think of. Maybe when I was a little girl, I remember a few problems with the washer before. I'm sorry that it flooded but I hope not too bad. I'm sure you are both relieved you caught it when you did. Was there any water damage? I suggest looking online for tips on water damage on walls to see if you could fix the problem yourself, but if you have insurance on the house for damage like that I'd definitely be sure not to violate any of the terms in the contract.

yes, it happened to me too. There was one time that I put clothes in the washing and leave it there as I usually do but then when i come back to check my laundry, the laundry room was flooded.. I turned off the machine and take care of the water all over the place. When my hubby arrived, we found out that the machine has leak on it and it has to be replaced. Oh my goodness!!! it is a big job to clean the water out for it flooded the whole area and it is carpeted.

When I was washing my conforter I put the water usage for full load when I should have put it at medium load well there was water all over my laundry room. Thank god it didn't make it inside my hallway it would have probably ruined my hardwood floors. If it went in the other direction it would have gone to the garage and that would have been fine.

Wow!!! Hope you weren't doing towels at that point! I haven't had my washer do that, but I have had a similar incident with the water line to my toilet... I was sitting here browsing the internet one day and I hear this "whooosh" sound that wouldn't stop. I got up to see what it was, and the line to the toilet had burst and was flooding my bathroom something terrible! Everything was soaked. The worst part was that it went through the floor into the basement (where, coincidentally, my bedroom is right below the bathroom... ugh) and when I went downstairs, everything in my room had gotten wet, including my books and my bed. It took a week to make sure everything was dry and to fix the floor in the bathroom. We got it under control when I found the shutoff valved below the toilet, and got the neighbor to tighten it back up.... It definitely was NOT a good situation! But, at least we have new flooring in the bathroom now I guess ^.^
