National Bookstore, Powerbooks or Fully Booked?

I was cleaning my room today and I saw three of my cards from these top bookstores in the Philippines. I have my Laking National card, my Powercard and a discount card from Fully Booked. Personally, I don't like buying books from National. I usually buy books from Powerbooks. If they don't have it, that's when I go to Fully Booked. I noticed Powerbooks prices their books cheaper than Fully Booked does. I buy school supplies and art materials from National and on occasion, books I need for school. How about you guys? Which bookstore do you prefer?

It depends on what I need. I get my supplies from National Bookstore - it's really your one-stop-shop for office and school supplies. If I need books, I get them from Powerbooks. For hard-to-find books, I go to Fully Booked and A Different Kind of Bookstore.

Oh, I forgot A Different Kind of Bookstore. Wait a minute. Is it "A Different Kind of Bookstore"? Or is it "A Different Bookstore"? I always thought it was the latter one. Anyway, it doesn't matter. :P

I'd go for Powerbooks, since they always get the first printed copies of my favorite local authors like Bob Ong (just recently bought "Kapitan Sino" at Powerbooks Shangrila). And yes, they're way cheaper than National and Fully Booked. That's why I prefer PB than the latter two.

I love Bob Ong too! :) I've read Kapitan Sino. I wish he writes another book like "Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas", "ABNKKBSNPLAKO" and "Stainless Longganisa". I think those were the best. Powerbooks is always known for having a great variety of books. :)

Well as for me, I'm a loyalist of National Bookstore. lol. I buy school supplies from them, magazines, books and other stuff. I don't have the card though.

I think the card is great. I already earned Php200+ on my card. I can use that to buy something in National. I mean, for every 1000 points, you get Php10 back. 1 point is equivalent to Php1. So instead of buying something and not getting anything back, the card gives you Php10 for every Php1000 worth of purchase.

I heard that Goodwill is known for having a lot of medical books. I don't know why either. But my school informed us that another bookstore, C&E, has all the medical books we would need for the duration of medical school. It's far though. I think there's a branch in Recto. I know they have other branches but I don't know where.

Hi beamsey, I usualy go to national bookstore to buy books on sale, I don't know that it is cheaper in powerbooks for I thought that books there cost much. I Also go to christian bookstore and also to Booksale, I remember I had bought good books there that only cost P. 15.00 how cheap isn't it but I really enjoy it. Why don't you try buying from Booksale, I even go to Recto a place here in our country where in you can buy secondhand books for as low as P. 40.00, Some of my friends consider me as a wise buyer for I took time to canvass on lowest price of books. I always tell them that I need to spend my money wisely just a good steward. Thanks can you be my friend?

I meant books in Powerbooks are cheaper than the ones in Fully Booked. I also buy from Booksale. I buy old craft magazines and old issues of National Geographic. I rarely buy books from Booksale because most of their books are love stories. I rarely read love stories as I find them too predictable. Whenever I want a book, I always check National first to see if they have it. They usually don't though. Powerbook and Fully Booked have long surpassed National in the number and variety of books they have. I already accepted your friend request, by the way.

Depends on what im looking for. For general supplies and books printed here in the Philippines, National. If im in the mood for books, I go to Fully booked or Powerbooks.

Hmm... Well, my sister and I usually prefer National Book Store to the other two book stores, mostly because of the price. However, for rare books (e.g. Japanese manga/comics), I usually rely more on Fully Booked.

I am just like you! I don't however have discount cards for national bookstore and fully booked. I buy all my books from powerbooks, if they don't have it, I go to fully booked ( they have more titles that the former ). And all my supplies I buy from national bookstore, I guess that will never change cause since the day I started classes I always buy my school supplies from national bookstore. Oh I miss those days! =)
