Do you wear make up at home?

I asked this because, as for me, if I don't have plans of going somewhere, you'd still see me with my face pwder on, and a lipgloss. This is already part of my routine... the reason for this is that, when I was in college, I stayed in a girl's dormitory. We all share a dining area with the boy's dormitory...not only that, I usually have surprise visits from friends...and in fact, some dorm mates might want to visit my room anytime. I don't want to be seen with my "just woke up" face...so I got used to putting a little something to my face whether staying at home or not. Now that I finished school... I still do the same routine, even if I don't go out. My friends found it weird, and I thought, maybe I'll find a fellow mylotter who does the same routine...or a little more, or less :-)

Good to read a response from a guy!! I believe you don't have any problems with your wife's routine of putting on make up. Right? Besides, this is a good thing for you too. You can see her effort to look presentable to everybody. I know you love her wit or without make up... But seeing her at her best always is an added plus...right?

I don't wear make up at home now, I just comb my hair, when I go out of the house however, I put on baby powder and a little lipsthic. Before, however, even at home I'm always dressed and wearing the same a baby powder and a little lipsthick, as I was so active real estate agent then, that anytime there would be a client call. So I could just get my bag and easily go.

I see. Indeed, what you do for a living, or the daily activities you attend to is a factor on whether or not, one should decide on putting on make up or not. In my case, I just feel like wearing it on, even if I am not expecting anybody. As mentioned earlier, it is a routine that I have been doing for year now, and it's just hard to get out of my system. It just amazes me why some people find it weird, when it can be as normal as taking a bath to anybody else.

Of course...we should dress up as comfortable as possible when at home. I also do the same thing. Same routine of brushing, moisturizing and all...the difference we have, is I can't help not putting on make up even at home.

I don't wear makeup all the time. I get caught without my makeup on a lot. I do wear makeup and have tons of it. I like makeup. But there are times I will go without wearing it even if i leave the house. I wear perfume everyday. But when you are use to wearing makeup all the time like you are its hard to change it.

I have tons of makeup I have a duffel bag full. I would never run out of makeup for a long time. So if I need it I know I always have it on hand.

Oh okay. I am a make up addict. But I agree, that there really are odd days, when you don't feel like dressing up nor putting make up. And like I said...those are odd days. The people who saw me on these days must be very lucky, coz they are one of the very few who saw me in this state :-D

I really don't wear too much make up but the little that I do wear, I usually will wear it at home too. I will just put on a little bit of powder and lipgloss or chapstick. I don't make a big deal out of it, it's just a quick face routine after I get out of the shower. I'll add a little mascara if I plan on going out but otherwise, I don't really care that much. Sometimes it's good to wear a little makeup around the house if it has SPF and such.

I agree. We basically have the same routine then. It's more about protecting the skin and having SPF at the same time, avoiding oilyness. I love doing this for years now... that I wondered why some people find it unusual. Good to know someone who is in the same boat with me.

Personally I rather not put make up on unless I am going somewhere. I think that the natural me is just good enough when I am at home and if someone does come by well that is a treat for them to see my natural beauty! Honestly i think there isnt anything worse with going out with someone and everytime they see you in the morning they have to stop and wonder .. hmmm was that who I went to sleep with last night cause she sure looks different! ha On the other side of the coin there is that thinking that no matter what you do or where you go you never know who you will run into so you might as well as your face on and look your best. But there is nothing worse than having mascara and eyeliner on and not remembering and then rub your eyes until you look like rocky raccoon!!!

You have your point. That's the main reason, why I put on a face powder and gloss only... It is only to put away shine, and avoid lip dryness. Other than that, I prefer not to put too much, unless I am going out.

That is really cute. I always loved those cute girls dancing on parades, and showing those legs! You are way ahead of me, because I started to appreciate make up, or using makeup a bit older when you started using it. you must be one make up pro now!

at home ...noooooo...never... i hate makeup at home, and if it was not necessary to look attractive i mean if it was not in practice at all...it would have been better ....the time u apply its good and u look so pretty, but i dont like to be concious all the time, to give it touches if you are out for long time, and all the time it feels so artificial...so at home i want to be natural....naturally

Well, in my case, a face powder and gloss is sooo low maintenance, that I don't have to have a re touch every few minutes. It is just something that I am used to.

I wear very little makeup anyway. I guess out of routine...habit, I do put on a little bit each morning. I don't wear the eye makeup unless I'm going to work or out. I guess the "habit" began probably for the same reasons as you. When I was younger, I always had random people stopping by. Actually, I still do sometimes. Difference now that I'm older is that if someone stops by and I have no make up on, I don't freak and if they want to go do something....as long as I've brushed my teeth & showered...I'm good to go.

With a make up ready on my face I can be more spontaneous with people that visit me. If they wanna go out have a bite in anear resto, there's less hassle. If where we're going to is going to be a little formal, then I can just add make up...but if it's not, then, I'll just wear a casual tee, flip flops...and I am done. Also, my friends don't have to wait for me prepare.

No not usually especially since I've been home it seems hubby does not notice when I do so I don't bother wasting my time. But I do like wearing it when I go to work, makes me feel a bit better about myself and it doesn't hurt to look nice at work.

Some guys are just not expressive. Without you knowing it, he may notice you glamming up for him. Besides, it's better to try to look good, without expecting everybody to notice.

No, I don't wear make up at home since I have reason for me to do that and I'm 90% home alone all the time. I do make up when I go out once in a while depends on where I am going and who I am going with hehe.

Yes. A big factor on how you wear make up...is the occasion, and the people you are with. I always believe that there is a certian look for every occasion. In my case...my home make up routine is the most minimalist of all.

lol most of the time i dont wear makeup ALL THE TIME...but i do wear it when i go out. i dont think i have an ugly face without makeup at least i hope not lol! thats why i dont wear it when i dont leave. plus i only live with my boyfriend so he doesnt care and i dont care if he sees me without make up. so yeah...lol i think its funny when you were talking about the dorm...because if i lived in a dorm i would totally do that too!

Maybe the dorm played great factor on how I became a huge make up addict. lol! And yeah, sometimes, when you are a lot confident with who you are with, wearing make up or not shouldn't be an issue.

I totally agree. Putting makeup can sometimes be a great therapy. Totally relaxing. However, your mood will sometimes show on your makeup... just like any art. I have noticed that when I am feeling fresh and happy... the colors are more vibrant...when I feel a bit depressed and sad, I wear darker colors. The case is different though, when I a m just at home. I only wear powder and a lip moisturizer.

For me, I put make up when I am home because my husband he want me to put on make-up when we have something to go. My husband told me that if I did not put make-up I will be look ulgy if I did not put on it. I always put make-up and I always straight my hair so I look pretty for my spouse. My husband want me to be look good to be with him when we go out somewhere.

That's a bit mean of your husband to call you ugly when you don't wear make up. Besides, cosmetics does not change who you are...it only enhances your assets.

I always admire people who look well groomed whether at home or on an outing. Even at the end of the day on my way home, I like to look good. SO though I dont wear a lot of make up - just lipstick and eyeliner, sometimes eyeshadow and mascara (if i have extra time to spare) I apply make up at home and on my way back home from wherever. Only thing is I dont touch up my make up at home cos I get too busy running around finishing tasks and caring for my active almost 11 month old to sit down in front of a mirror again.

I am a new mo myself... and I agree with your thoughts. I have to admit, that I don't have that much time to retouch my make up. However, I try to squeeze it in my busy day to day tasks as much as possible. I am also a new mom, and I don't want to look very stressed out. In fact, I always get compliments that motherhood suits me, and it feels great!

Yes I wear makeup at home, even if I'm not going anywhere at all. I don't know if I would if I lived alone though. Probably would. I put my makeup on because of my husband and kids. It also makes me feel a little bit better, a little bit more awake or peppy & I also feel good knowing if someone stopped by or we decided to run out, I don't look like a total train wreck.

Really happy to find someone who feels the same way, and agree on my thoughts. Yes, make up can indeed improve one's mood. Not only that, it helps us feel more comfortable facing other people, be it anywhere...even just at home.

I don't usually put on make-up unless I know someone is coming over or unless I am planning on going anywhere. Although I do know I look much better with make-up on than without, I do like giving the pores on my face a break every now and again - I am sure it isn't healthy to wear make-up every single day.

Yes, I have learned from this discussion that a lot of women don't put on make up on a daily basis, and this is for the main reason of allowing their pores to rest. Makes me think of giving my pores a rest day...lol

Of course i will not wear make up at my home.It is weird when we wear make up at home.Beside that i will not wear make up because i want to relax my face and make it free breathing.Maybe i will wear it at my home if someone or my friends come to my home.I dont want to make they think i am not smart and not beauty.

Don't get me wrong...but I don't think make up is only for those who are not smart, nor beautiful. I think it is someone anybody can wear to enhance the beauty. Besides...wearing make up has nothing to do with how smart you are...in fact, by being confident, one is usually mistaken as smart. happy mylotting!

Mostley at home I am just me. No makeup. I will put on some lipgloss at times just so my lips are not to dry but that is it. I think it is healthy to give my face a break. That is my opinion!

Agree. It is important that you let your skin rest for a while by putting less makeup or not putting anything at all. As for me, this is already my way of allowing my skin to have a break...because, rather than putting the whole makeup thingy from combination of shadows and mascaras to lipstcks and blushes... my daily make up routine consists of face powder and a lip moisturizer only.

No way! If I'm not going anywhere, I am happy for the opportunity to leave that out of my routine! I think I look much better with makeup on, but I have been very slack about wearing it around the house. Even if I have to go to the grocery store, sometimes I will not put any on. It's just the grocery store, who do I have to impress there? Or Wal-Mart. Yeah. Whether I wear makeup or not, I'm still looking better than 75% of that population. I have grown up with skin issues (acne, breakouts), so a chance to not wear makeup has to be taken to allow my pores some unclogging time. They clog so easily, and my face is very oily, so I have to be careful. I only wear BareMinerals makeup, which is very light. I really like it. I grew up in a household with a mom who never left the house without a full face of makeup. You just didn't do that. I am a little better about being natural than she was. If you talk to her about it, you'd think it is a sin to leave without makeup on! But my hubby likes both looks and doesn't mind if I go natural, so I don't really mind either.

Somehow, your response made me smile :-) Bareminerals, is also a mineral makeup..so we basically wear the same kind on our face. And it really is not a problem if you want to do away with this routine, especially, if you think it's too much of a burden. Besides, I have been wearing makeup on my face for years now, and to think I am only on my mid 20's I never had issues with acnes and stuff, one reason why I stick to this routine.
