Indian Army is second largest but more 1st in dedication and has also humanity. Other country army don't have humanity. That is the main feature of Indian Army

you are so right, large or not is not the key point for a army. our army don't have any experince in a real large war. they are still not real soliders.

no matter how big our army is, as a army, they soliders need to be trained in real war adn real respected win in a war. for example, US army in WWII and Iraq,Ventinam,Kerea. China army in Ventinam and Kerea. European coutries army are also invovled so many great wars. problem is ,our army is only a group of people and fight in a few some battle. they still not real soliders and don't have any experince in a real great war.

my friend the soldiers of the Indian army are the best trained soldiers of the world.......and army is not only for war........army is for maintaining peace in the country also......army is not called in for any war army come in times of emergencies......and for your information US army had lost against vetinam......and these others countries which you are talking just show their power but there is no actual reason for war.......but Indian army has to constantly fight against terrorism......from all sides....

I'd hate to sound idealistic or cynical in the ideas I've got. The idealist view is to basically cut down on defense spending, which means freeing up soldiers into the general population and workforce. That way, money would be diverted to other areas that would help create more jobs like R&D and services that would benefit the economy on a longterm plan. Or the militaristic view is to upgrade the army with more advanced weaponry, equipments and vehicles to reduce the manpower yet improve efficiency. The start-up cost is high, but it should save money in the long run, both in maintenance and manpower. I'm no expert, with no experience in economics, military or politics or whatever may be relevant, but this was an interesting proposal.

Hi soumeshp...... firstly thank you for your views......i agree with your view but if u really go and see that freeing up soldiers into general population or workforce is a better idea and if these soldiers starts working in any M.N.C like you and me then who will protect our borders from other countries and terrorists.....if our own homeland is not protected then what is the use of the workforce.......and talking about the development of the army......the government has taken a huge step in the development of the defense forces.......the recent N-Deal is the best example.......
