What kind of person we wanna be depend on the major we choose just before entering the college. Choosing a interesting major can greatly stimulate our potential to succeed. Everyone who want to enter university the first and the most thing is to choose a major. Being confined to the knowleged I have learnt, I choose biology science as my major but the hot major such as economice or computer science. Until I started my campus life, I found that the biological students always can`t find a decent jobs in our country and most of them chose the jobs that were not suitable for their major. And this is what will happen to me in the future. I always blame myself for doing such a stupid choose to ruin my life. However, I have not enough courage to change my major and continue to study my master degree in biology. Am I wrong? So, my friends, if you have such a problem that you always regret for, please share with me. Every road leads to Rome! I sincerely hope we can change our destiny no matter what major we study.

I think I'd prefer to find out first after graduation if I'll regret this course and it's only a year now before I graduate. I've chosen Education as my course and Art as my major but I HONESTLY don't think I'd like this course. I love both art and teaching but I really have big dreams to be rich, to be a successful person particularly being a writer, an owner of a magazine firm or a broadcast journalist or computer programmer.. In my country usually teachers have low salary. Coming from a not-so-rich (but not-so-poor) family, with all the worst experiences in life, I told myself I wanted to be rich someday. I am not being materialistic though, I still do believe that you should love your profession. However, I just don't want to experience poverty.. I'm just not used to it.. I still have no vivid plans after graduation, but if I didn't make it to teaching, I think I'd take another major which I'd really love..

Well, you seem to be at a loss what to do in the future and choose a way that suit you best. I have such problem too. Although I know value ourselves fully and get well prepared for the future career is more important than go off into wild flights of fancy, I always rather leave it until the day before choosing. Every road leads to Rome maybe too perfect to fulfill. However, be confident and trust yourself can solve no matter what problem is and you will have a bright future.

No, I love my bachelors degree. It is my dream profession since I was grade 3. I love being around with computers, programming and learning the latest trend in technology. I can't imagine myself taking another major. Maybe I am just influenced by my computer teacher in elementary but it doesn't matter. I found my passion in computers. I hope that I could learn another programming language like Java.

Great, hope you succeed in the computer science. I never touched computer until I entered university. Now I`m interested in computer too. And I admire the giant person most of who choose computer as their major, just like Kaifu Li. However, I can`t earn a living by computer like you. For me, continuing to find a best way to success is more important right now.

Hi, flyisky. Choosing a major is certainly of great importance for all of us since it greatly inlfuences our future. But most of us feel lost when facing with so many majors, like mathematics, biology, mechanics, physics, language, etc.. To make a correct choice is by no means an easy task, for nobody can tell which major will be hot in the future. At this moment, I think we'd turn to our parents, teachers or graduates for help. If you feel no special preference for any major, then you may choose a hot one. As for me, I think the most important factor affecting my choice of a major is my interest in it. I chose linguistics as my major and I've never regretted for my choice. I've always feeling a strong interest in my major and plan to continue my doctor's degree. Though it's also hard to find a decent job for students majoring in linguistics, I managed to find a job as a college teacher and now I'm working quite well. I can understand your regret. You may feel greatly discouraged when failing to find a job. But don't lose confidence anyway. Be confident in yourself always and make every effort to find a job. Good luck!

Hi,chenxiaoyue. Thanks for sharing your experience and your encouragement on me. Luckily, you have chosen the major in which you are really interested, and can turn to somebody for helping make a decision. However, my situation is worse. I live in a small mountainous city. At that time, I cannot available the internet and my parents know nothing about majors. Therefore, no one but only I can help myself to choose a major. Because I always got a high mark on biology so I considered biology as my interesting major by mistake. As I have chosen biology as my major, what I can do now is to value myself fully and make a right direction lead to the success.

Since I was a kid, I wanted to join the army, but as I entered high school that interest seemed to shift towards the Air Force, and I wanted to become a Pilot, I still do of course. But to be a fighter pilot needs a lot of variables to be considered and I was just an airplane fan, so I chose Aeronautics as my major. So that even if I fail to become a Pilot, I would still be around airplanes and do something in that field instead of doing something I don't really like. It's a very important decision to take. Since your line of work will be completely related to your Major, although not necessarily, one should be very careful while choosing a major. bourne

You have got the point. Choosing a interesting major is very important for anyone who wanna enter university. And you always have faith and persist to what you like most. My failure is that I haven`t fully evaluate myself and chosen a major relateing to my interest and abilities. Maybe I should not complaint it, just forget the past and start a different life from scratch.

I do regret the major I chose in college.if I just took the risk and shifted to the course I wanted I would probably be happy now.I graduated with a degree in Information Technology.when I was in my 2nd year,I realized that i wanted to be in the fashion and/or culinary industry.I didn't shift to another course becaue my parents might not approve of it.if I did shift,I would have probably felt fulfilled now.if biology will make you happy in the long run,go for it.

I`m sorry to hear that. Because different reasons, we continue to study our major. My reason is that I have no enough courage to change major, and I afraid because of lacking of basic knowledge I would failed if I start a new major. And you, because of the pressure from parents. All of these lead to a wrong way that we won`t see in the future. Anyway, just like I say, every road leads to Rome! Have a wonderful day.

Well, you and me share the same experience. In order to find a decent job and live happily, we choose to continue to study a master degree in the same major. However, we cannot change the past, what we can do now is to accept the fact and have faith in ourselves. Feeling depressed cannot improve the situation, we should take action to prepare for the coming future. Right now, the first thing is to evaluate ourselves what can we do and how can we do. And turn to friends or graduated students for help to ask what kind of job related to our major can we find. Know the enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles with on danger of defeat. Have a wonderful day!

my dear friend,I cannot agree you more!I regret for my major!why I choose such a stupid major?-biology!in china! When I choose this major,I am a senior student,And that time I donot know what is the best major.I choose biology, just because my score in the biology subject is high!AND people say that 21 century is the biology era! When I enter into the college,I know this saying is so fool! the more upsetting thing is that I go to my postgraduate life with the major zoology!I hate insects but I have to face to these insects every day!

I`m studying consecutively from master`s degree to doctor`s degree. So, after graduation, I will be a doctor majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. There are two way lie in front of me. The one is to go abroad to get a PhD, the other is to get into a big biological company as a researcher. What about you?

Oh, my god! Your major is also biology. You have my word almost exactly the same. Like I got high mark in biology when I still in the high school and the teacher said that 21st century is the biology century. Now that we have choose biology as our major, we can just sit for waiting. Still, we are the postgraduate students now, and we can choose a best way to fulfill our value. Just like go abroad to get a post-doc, start our own company, become a civil servant, enter a big company. What is done is done. We cannot change anything but to seek another way to struggle for our beautiful future life. Have a good day!

It looks like you and me share the same experience. If you don`t like biology at all then change it as soon as possible. Although our major is biology, there are still many jobs aren`t relative to biology. And if you like, you can do whatever you wanna do in the future. Just be patient and well prepare for the career you might chase, and you will be successful at last.

I started college as a Music Major, but in my second semester was told that I didn't have the talent required to continue and make a living (even though I was going into Music Education and Therapy not Performance), but oh well. So instead of taking time off from college to figure out what I wanted to do with my life I changed majors. I switched to Recreation and Park Administration with a minor in Psychology. Well that was 24 years ago and I have never worked in the Recreation Field. If I would have taken time off or would have had someone I could have talked to in order to really understand just what I wanted to do for a "career", I would have gone into Education and would have over 20 years in and a good retirement built up. But for the last 5 years I have been a substitute teacher and have really loved it. My advice to you would be to pursue something that not only brings in money but something that will make you happy and want to get up in the morning to go to work.

Thanks for sharing your experience and give such a good suggestion. Indeed, we cann`t confined to the major we have studied, and seek the real carrer which is fit for us and bring more than the money just like happiness. We are born to enjoy life not to suffer pain, so don`t let the major manipulate the future. We can change our own fate to live a happy life.

I started out with a major in computer engineering and ended with a teaching degree focusing on special education. Now I'm continuing my grad studies to become a clinical psychologist. The choice of a major while still in college is not necessarily foreshadow what will happen in the future. I believe we will always be given opportunities to review and consequently change our decisions. If you're a bit confused now, there's really no need to worry. Just make sure that you get good grades at the least and you'll be all set.

Thanks for your encouragement and sharing your experience of choosing a major. The decisions we make can change depending on different circumstances. I cannot change the past and feel depressed doesn`t do any good for me. So, just like you say don`t worry the major I have chosen and keep working hard. I believe the reward will be rich enough to enjoy a happy life. Have a good day!
