What do you think of this quotation? "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?"

Do you believe in this quotation? "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? Do you believe in it? We always say we do, but when we're with real people, we don't observe this. We usually look at the exterior of a person and decide whether we like her or not. In fact, beautiful women always have the edge, likewise with handsome men. Do you have explanations about these phenomenon? Thanks for any vital contribution.

I think its true. I mean when you get attracted to someone and you can see the sparkle in her that nobody see it. Like me, some people say im not beutiful but for my hubby im the most beautiful in his eyes, because he can see the special thing inside me, not only my appearance but what's inside me that sparkles and dazzles him. Cheers.

I definately believe that! I think when someone starts liking them...the longer they are in a relationship the better looking they get! LOL...also that's why people have different colored rooms.....furniture...etc. I think it's a matter of taste. Remember that movie....about the guy that is so judgemental that God comes along and makes him fall in love with a very heavy girl? But when he looks at her she is skinny....and not one person can understand what he sees in her....well...truly beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it's a good thing....for otherwise we would all want the same person...the same couch..etc.

Well, in my opinion "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" doesn't mean that people care about whats on the inside more than the outside--although there are quotes that would go along with that. I think the quote you mentioned here means that people perceive different things as beautiful, and I totally believe that; I'm proof of it! hehe For example; there are some guys I've met that I think are really cute, but other girls I know (most of them :P) don't agree! lol. It's all about "my type" of guy, and how it differs from my friends types. Another kind of goofy example that I think fits perfectly into the quote...there is a new movie coming out called District 9. You can watch the preview at Yahoo Movies...in the preview there is a short clip with an alien being interrogated in it...now, I think the alien is cute in a weird sort of way. I always say how his eyes look sad, and it just humbles him for me and makes me think he is a cute creature...I am the ONLY person I know who's seen the preview that thinks he is cute! lol. And I defeniatly understand why no one else thinks he's cute--but it doesn't change my opinion

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It all depends on our different perceptions. A person who may not be so beautiful in nature can have inner beauty, which is so much bigger. Phyciscal beauty can either give you the confidence look yourself reflecting on in a mirror, or can be achieved by everyone who understands it in the real sense of term. It is not important for a person to be gorgeous to be called ‘beautiful’; it is the heart that demands this praise. We should notice that universal beauty is still the monopoly of the eyes which sees it. Angelina Jolie is considered a universal treat to the eyes. It is a rare piece of beauty, but again one may not appreciate the beauty of her and find it to be rather ugly! Yes it’s quite possible because beauty is a matter of perception. The thing between her and Brad Bit may cause some argument though. Wrinkles on a woman’s face may be quite disturbing even to the woman, but to her lover it might be the very thing which attracts him. Wrinkle is something she worrys her husband too much. Wrincle 2 is something she gives a lot to her kids. Wrinkle 3 is something she takes good care of the whole family...The wrinkles are just beautiful scenes of love! I love the mountains I love the clear blue skies I love big bridges I love when great whites fly I love the whole world And all its sights and sounds I love the ocean I love real dirty things I love to go fast I love egyptian kings I love the whole world and all its craziness I love tornadoes I love arachnids I love hot magma I love the giant squids I love the whole world Its such a brilliant place All of them are just beautiful!

it means that everybody has a different perception of beauty.your definition of beauty is different from mine.in guy speak, while one guy finds this girl pretty, one guy doesn't.of course, our world is full of superficiality.it is a reality that the pretty women and handsome men get some of the best opportunities.actually,I don't believe in that quotation.people now look at the physical attributes rather than the emotional.that's why if some guy tells me I'm pretty,I can easily retort that he's a liar or he needs something from me.

Well, according to a joke only ugly people says that 'beauty lies in the eyes of beholder' , lol !! . And it looks somewhat true as beautiful people dont have any reason to say so. Actualy, this quote means that i depends on viewer if that thing is beautiful or not. It depends on the thinking of beholder that how he explore and see that thing.

Hi Jen! Yes, I firmly believe that "beauty lies in the eyes of beholder". When we talk about beauty vis-a-vis in the context of the quotation, it means only physical or outer beauty. What we see outwardly, we preceive the same in our minds. Different persons will have different parameters for determining beauty or handsomeoness of a person. To me a woman with sharp feature, irrespective of colour and creed may look beautiful, while it may not look beautiful to the other person, his parameter may be different from mine. Whether a person is really beautiful, to judge the same, one needs to see his/her character and inner beauty, which can only be seen when one starts interacting and inter-mingling with that person. At the first instance, one relies only on outer beauty and makes his/her judgement accordingly.

It just means different people find different things attractive. Someone might like Asians, some blondes, some Britons(I like asians). That's all . Everyone has a different sense of beauty you know.

i believe its true... all of us have different opinions and preferences on what is beautiful or not... maybe this one is beautiful for me but not for you or for other people... but when you say, beauty comes within...then sometimes that within is taken for granted for the first thing we see in the person is their physical appearance...but that's not always the case...there are many people that has been successful even they are not that beautiful(on its standard sense)...what they have is a good personality, knowledge and skills...

I really believe it! There is a truth in the saying. Everyone has his/her own piece of opinion and what we see doesn't mean will be seen by everyone else. It's what on the inside is matters but like you said, it's not easy for some people to see that.

Hi, ya i think i would agree and believe in this quotation. Although this phrase would seem to be like idealistic, but in our real life, there're also many examples we can see from the people around us. There're people who really love his or her partner, regardless of their partners' appearance. Other people may think that the him or her is not good looking but, for them their partner are just the perfect one.. I think this would be what people called true love. Moreover, different people would have different perception and different 'taste'. You may think that tihs girl, for example, are just ordinary or not really pretty, but for me she might be the one i'm looking for.

..i think i will believe that qoutation.,Because we cannot judge a person on her/his physical appearance,Until we cannot prove that his/her personality is good.
