Have you heard any unusual names lately?

I have a friend that is very upset that her son and his wife named their baby Ruby. I think it is a cute name and it isn't up to her to decide on their childs name. My Mother hated the names of both of my daughters but it didn't matter. I liked the names and that was all there was to it. My step son named his son Granger and this is the first time that I had heard of it. I thought it was strange at first but I think it is growing on me. I guess I better get used to it or not get to see the baby, right? Let me know what you think! Thanks and have a nice day!

I don't see anything wrong with Ruby or Granger. I think they're both good names. I have a gemstone name, but mine is a little more unusual than Ruby. You're right that it's the parents job to decide on a name (unless they willingly give the job to someone else) and grandparents and other family members shouldn't complain unless it's something absolutely stupid. Not long ago there was a family who sued a grocery store because the bakery wouldn't write "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler" on their son's birthday cake. I think their daughter's middle name was Aryan Nation. Those are the kind of names that should be protested. Ruby and Granger are perfectly fine.

Ruby as a name is not bad. Anyway, name is just kind of signal. Do not take it so seriously. I am from China, the character and name are far different from English name. And, if you meet a name containg character that you never seen, you even can not say it out. Very akaward when you are awkward when you are in a formal situation.

My Middle name is Ardelle and have not many any so far in my life with my middle name. My oldest sons middle name is Garland after a cousin who had the same name it is a man's name. Another son's middle name is De and another is Elgin. My daughter's first name is Amaryah pronunced. A mar ee ah the first A is short vowel sound so is second a. She named her children Tamzi Elasiadth Zariah Qollette, Alzera Jazymine, Halona Piper, Gerrin Paul Retsel, Andrey Lewis Harrison Tamzi is after my mother's great grandmother and Alzera is after my mother's grandmother. Retsel is his dad's name spelled backwards. Another Granddaughter is Roslyn Cecily Clare so yes we have lots of unusual but really cool names in our family.

My mother recently just had twin girls. For about a week staying in the hospital she did not know what to name them. Since my mother is a fashionista and loves fashion more than life itself, she dcided to name my sisters something unique. Newyork and Paris are my new baby sisters name. They both resemble fashion capitals and im excited!!

i heard a mother call her daughter equality the other day when i was in target. i have to say that is the weirdest name i have ever heard. it is not a name. it is a word and although the concept is nice what child wants to go through life with a ridiculous name like that? i would change my name as soon as i could. some things are just not meant to be names for people.

The Granger sounds cool to me as its unique. I would also like to give a name to my future baby something thats like never been heard. Its going to be just him/her that will ever have that kind of name in school. Having a unique name is great as you will be easy to identify and only you will turn your back if somebody calls your unique name. My nephew has a cool name as well. My brother and his wife named him Euj Boi. Euj stands for Elaine (my sister-in-law), U short for You (the baby itself) and Joseph (my brother). They have added Boi to make his name masculine and more unique. Sounds cute, isn't it?

that is not something new in my country, some people name their child after an idol, parent, friend, or even combining both of the parents names to fit. well, i hope they don't regret naming their child that one day they might be well selected for the bullying list. just saying, peace out

It's a nice name and unique. I also love it. Soon on November I will give birth and will decide what name for my baby. Having some unique names can be added a person as a unique person, what do you think? Granger is also my first time to hear and I never heared that before to others. Well I will also try to rumble some words and create a name for my baby. Thanks fo the idea.

I like the name Ruby...I think it is sweet for a little girl! I have hears some unusual names lately...like Finnley for a girl and Grayson for a boy. I kind of like those names though...they are different! Finnley I guess could be a name for a boy or a girl, really. I tent to prefer more traditional names, but it's totally up to the parent to name their child what they like. That's one of the fun parts of having a child...you get to name them! It's so much fun!

My mom's co-worker named his newest son Angus. It's not an extremely odd name, but you don't hear it too often. A lot of celeb baby names are even weirder- Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz named their son Bronx Mowgli.

Both Ruby and Granger sound fine to me. Its entirely up to the parents what they call their children but i do think its a little sad that some parents feel the need to give their child such a 'unique' name that the kid will be embarassed by it for the rest of its life. Some names are just so pretentious that people will form an opinion about the person before they've even met them.

Well what do you consider unusal? To me there are a lot of neat names out there. I picked my first daughters name and I love it. My youngest daughters name is pretty unqiue as well. I guess it is all how you look at it. The name that sticks out in my mind would be Heaven. I thought that was a beautiful name but that is not my daughters names. I choose to not tell you their names because that is like personal info. I hope you get some more responses and happy mylotting to you PSmith721. Happy mylotting as well.
