Do you still buy cookbooks?

I wonder with so many recipes posted to the internet each day do you still like to buy cookbooks? I have an old Better Homes and Garden cookbook that my mil bought me to replace my first one which I had bought almost twelve years ago. It had been my go to for meal ideas at that time. I still like to look through it but I've made most of the recipes I wanted to make and a lot of them I can make by heart. So while I do look at it now and then I don't look at it much. But I did recently purchase a soup cookbook because my husband loves soup. And then I have a grilling book and a grilling magazine in my collection as well. I thought about it and if I get a bigger kitchen soon then I would like to gather more cookbooks. There just seems to be something about looking through a cookbook that you can't get by looking for recipes on the internet. With that said I also have a lot of recipes I've printed from the internet and it can be a great source especially for copy cat recipes and ones I don't have in my books. So what about you, do you buy cookbooks or just use recipes from the internet?

I have never bought a cook book. I just print all the recipes from the internet and have made my own. Im half way tempted to by one of paula deans books or tyler florence cause I like there meals. I think i will when I acutall get a home, it will be apart of my kitchen decor.

I have a decent collection of cookbooks but I do believe that ya can't have too many !! I like to find them at thrift stores and flea markets as well as garage sales where they go for as little as fifty cents or a dollar. I couldn't agree more that it's nice to sit down with an illustrated cookbook...they make nice gifts too.

No, I rarely do it now, as i already have my own printer with ink color. I could just print a copies of my favorites recipes for free on the internet. It is a lot of savings for me.

Hi kcoregon, I believe nothing can replace books and I love my collection of cookery books and would love to add to it. I will sometimes check a recipe idea on the internet but would much prefer to thumb through a nice glossy book with pictures, hand written notes scrawled all over it, and unfortuantely many food stains which have gathered whilst I cook. I had a special shelf section built into my breakfast bar counter to house my cookery books.

I haven´t bought a cookbook in ages! I´m in the stage where in make up my onw recipes with what food I have in the fridge or pantry. And when I want inspiration or a conversation with a cookbook, I go to The Joy of Cooking, even If I have a whole self of cookbooks in my kitchen. A couple of times I have used internet for ethnic dishes. And the best thing is that they usually have a beautiful picture of the dinished product. Happy posting!

I used to buy many cook books before every time I went to a bookshop but not now. There are many great and different recipes we can find from the net and I will search for one if I want to try any recipe from the net from all over the world. I sometimes do use the cook book to find interesting recipes to try.

Whenever I go to a world book day or a book sale I have to buy books not necessarily a recipe book however if the recipe book is not very expensive so that I can afford to buy it and that there are many interesting recipes in it then I will definitely be buying it. I have some recipe books that have been gifted to me by friends, my sister, my boss, and others so I have many of them at home and I am still learning to cook though.
