Ladybirds

Ladybird - One of the many different types of ladybird in the UK. This one is not very exciting, but was the only one sitting still when I had my camera out!

We have had a lot of ladybirds in the UK this year, probably because it has been warmer than usual. Do you have ladybirds in your part of the world? Or maybe you have a different name for them where you live?

well, here in canada they are called lady bugs and we have two types, the harmless red ones (with black spots) and the orange coloured ones (also with black spots) but these tend to bite! what coloured are the ones you have there? do you have both? i have to say that i have not seen an over abundance of them this year.

We have all different sorts, even yellow ones. In fact I see one I've never seen before just about every year! There are even tiny ones that seem to have about 12 spots and black ones with red spots!

In the US we call them ladybirds. I ahvent seen alot of them around this year either. I dont know if the weather conditions are right for them at this time. I like them and think they are cute, but I dont like them when they get in the house. I hav some that hang out in the kitchen near the window sill.

They do seem to like sitting around the windows - I suppose because they're out of the wind and they can still see the sunlight.
