Last night, after reading various topics about a certain subject, I'm glad to be alive and very healthy as of today. As you can see in the photo, the patient is suffering from what is known as a rare disease. It's Necrotizing fasciitis or commonly known as flesh-eating disease or flesh-eating bacteria. I have some links provided for additional information about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrotizing_fasciitis http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/necrotizing-fasciitis-flesh-eating-bacteria-topic-overview http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=61933 This disease may be rare but it can strike anyone. The scary part is, you think you can't get it because you're healthy. But those who have survived this, have been healthy. Those people who have chronic suppressed immune-system are at a higher risk of getting it. You just never know if that simple cut you got will turn into a nightmare. Early treatment is very, very important. Antibiotics play a major role in treating this disease and surgery. I have seen one article last night, in which this woman had her right arm and right breast removed because of Necrotizing fasciitis. She survived but had to learn how to move on with her life without her right arm. These bacteria don't really eat the skin. But they do release toxins that results to the destruction of skin and muscle. The symptoms usually show from a few hours to a day. The infection spreads like wildfire and can be very fatal if not treated early. It's still a wonder that I was still able to sleep last night. Even after looking at the many graphic images of people who had it. There was even a video link of a woman who almost had no skin left in her left arm. You can already see the bone. It's very important to have vital information about this kind of disease but then, you tend to get paranoid at a certain point. Because everytime you feel a muscle pain or get the tiniest cut, you immediately worry what if?!!!Then the graphic images you've seen of people who suffered from this disease floats in your mind like a nightmare you can't wake up from. That's why I chose to put this topic under the "Enjoy Life" section. Because you just never know...

That is the most gruesome thing I have yet to see here. WOW. It's good that you have shared this info but WOW. These are images that will be in my mind for a while I'm sure. There is a member that I saw on here that has survived this condition. I hope that they respond to this discussion as well. I think they could help us out with some more info if they do.

Oh my...I hate this group of bacteria! I pity those who are infected with it. I am glad, too that I am not suffering that kind of disease. I will always be thankful in my prayers for that.
