Even as a child, I dream of going to other country and working there. It is not that I am losing my hope in my very own country but somehow I am just thinking that other countries will give me more opportunity to have a better life. My boyfriend told me to have at least 2 years teaching experience here in my country and after that I can apply for a teaching abroad. I am wondering how is it to work abroad. What are the steps I must do so I can reach my dream having a teaching career outside my country? Can anyone give me suggestions? Thanks and happy mylotting.

i think it is a good idea and precious experience to work abroad though i have never been to another country.working abroad doesn't mean u will earn a lot money.but definitely it will enrich ur life .as u are young ,it is a good opportunity to work abroad before ur marriage.after u get married, life will be totally different.it will become more complicated than u can imagine.i had the same dream as u do at my young age.but now i have got a family and stable job.leaving my wife and child to work far away from home will be nonsense for me.fortunately we are planning to have our first vacation together to australia next year.as i was much older than u, i encourage u to go for ur dream before it is too late.may luck be with u all the time!

Currently i am living abroad, but no work yet. As i am a mom, my kid is the important for me now, but time will come, i will going to find work here. I have no idea, what are the process to work abroad. Maybe you can apply as a skilled worker at the immigration agency, and they gonna assess you if you're qualified. Good luck to you annierose, hope your dreams will come true, just prepare for the homesick, culture shock and the Horrible weather lolz.

I haven't been to any other country up to now. I want to experience going to other countries but probably just for vacation. My boyfriend has been insisting that we go out and work to another country to save money for our future. I might change my mind..being with him in a different place and earning at the same time? That'll be great. Hmmm...I've heard that the most challenge of people working to other countries is homesickness and culture shock as well. Good luck to you annierose hope you fulfill your dreams someday.

I am currently working as a teacher here in Thailand. I have learned new things and is learning more actually. Working abroad will pave way for more opportunity and chance of a lifetime. I came here as a tourist and my friend offered me a teaching job in a language school nearby. Being a teacher by profession (though never practiced it in my home country), i grabbed the opportunity and never regret anything. It's one the best decisions i made and I am happy about it. There are TESOL and TEFL courses offered online, so taking and passing those test will give you edge over those who don't have. Good luck!

Luck is just but a part of it, It's more on determination and perseverance. Follow what your heart says and listen to the voice of truth inside you. HE answers prayers so you're way up there already! If you feel you're ready for the big challenge go for it. Failure doesn't mean the end of everything---it means the start for you to try again. You can do it kabayan!

I'm currently working in Japan and I have to say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I learn something new everyday and have experiences I would never have back home. I didn't need any experience to get the job, but having a college degree helps (it's not necessary though). If you want to teach English, than a TELF or TESOL degree is also a good idea. Good luck!

hi rikuou, thanks for the response. Are you a teacher also? I had read about TEFL or TESOL and there are some sites here which offer that course? Is that safe?

I did the online course on the I-to-I TEFL site. I've had no problems so far, but I will say that an actual course in a classroom looks a lot better on your resume. I'm currently teaching English in Japan.

It actually depends upon the country where one will be able to work to... and also the kind of job... nurses and teachers usually have it good because these two professions are very respected by most cultures and the salary is also a good one... but then there will be a need for you to shed out a lot of money for the placement fee and airfare... I had the opportunity of working abroad for two years... and luckily the only fee i had to pay was when i got my passport... aside for that... no placement fee... free round trip ticket... and my board and lodging was also free and i had a monthly food allowance... but the negative thing is that... the salary was not that big... but i was able to work part time... so that made up for it... If you really want to go abroad... it would be nice if you have a close relative to a country where you want to go that... they would surely be able to help you...

i too want to work abroad. hope that you will find way to work in other country of your choice as we know that it is very difficult to find a good paying job in our country and that is why so many people leaving our country to find for a greener pasture in other countries. it is really sad to see how bad the situation of our country is.

I am from Singapore and I've always though of being able to venture abroad for the experience as well as living a different way of life and seeing more things around the world to be more open and knowledgable. I am not a teacher but a Fashion Designer/Stylist. The reason as to why I wanna work overseas is because of the fashion industry in Singapore being too small and job opportunities are limited, also, another reason will be that after seeing so many Singapore Designers making waves in fashion capital like Paris, New York, Milan and London, I became inspired by their success and really hope to follow their footsteps. Anyway, if I ever have the chance to teach any courses related to fashion and styling, I don't mind giving it a try after I have enough experiences in the fashion industry.

I've worked around Europe for sometime as a photographer and part time working in Pubs as a musician. Working in a different country is not that difficult, as long as you have an idea about their culture (know their do's and don'ts, ok and not ok). I was happy working but then this thing called marriage came along... But it's not bad, It was the best decision I've ever made..

Many Filipinos still want to work abroad because of the bigger salary compare here. Opportunities here are few if you ask someone they are willing to work abroad if there's an opportunities. Teachers abroad are highly compensated I think you should get experienced first before to work abroad.
