My mother is 83 and she is quickly going downhill. It is very hard for me to comprehend. She repeats constantly, and has the first signs of dementia. It is very hard to contend with...she is my mom, but then again, she isn't. Any ideas of how I can cope without losing my mind.

I wish you could, but I am SLOWLY coming to the realization that this is how it is, and it won't get better. That is most of the battle with me.

My father is also 83 years old. He keep on repeating the same irritating things we don't want him to do. He can't remember well with things. Patient is a must.

A quick taught for me. When I change my daughter or son's diaper or mop that "pooh" spilled over the floor, I haven't made any complain coz, they're my own flesh and blood. There are many other things I would do without any complaint and frustrations for them. Hope that children remember this little things when its time for there parents to return to "babyhood".
