I have noticed that there is a way we can rate the comments being submitted by our co-myLotters here by clicking on the positive sign(+) or the negative sign(-). I wonder if hitting that button will also increase our revenue from this site. Hmmm... Anyway, is there any of you who have used those buttons to rate other people's comments from the discussions you are engaging at?

I just gave you a (+) rating for that! I have just started giving ratings today. I have not noticed it previously as I was having a lot of things in my head. Maybe that should be the guideline, if the response given is related to the initial discussion then I guess giving a (+) rating is great. It not only show appreciation but also this boost our morale because it means that our thoughts are being valued. :)

Yeah, I have just rated all the responses you made. When I first joined Mylot, I hardly noticed this '+' and '-' sign. So I didn't rate for others. Until one day I came across a topic discussed about this rating. From there I started to rate . I think it is something to be used for the reputation. The more + sign we receive, the good reputation we have.

I rate everything regardless of whether I respond or comment. I read a lot and just for having given a response and speaking their mind is reason for rating in my opinion. Only those who cheat like plagiarists and spammers willreceive a neg rate from me. I think you will find that until you reach 100 posts you are unable to rate. Try refreshing the page after you have rated a post and you should find that the box is still there. Your own star is affected if you use the neg ratings too often as it is only to be used in extreme circumstances. The star affects earnings too. Those with higher stars will earn more for an identical post than those with a lower star would. It is all explained in the FAQs : http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx

Thank you for sharing information about how star works. Do you know how much post we need so we can also have a star rating? I would like to get that status too. Based on your response, it seems like the uniqueness of the post will allow us to earn more other than having the same discussion that others have started earlier. I guess I really need a lot of reading so I can earn a better status and prosper here at myLot. :)

Sorry for the delay but for some reason I am not receiving notifiers today I am pleased you tested the ratings as it just confirms what happened almost two months ago when myLot decided tolisten to us and alter the rating system so that it could not be abused. New users can rate others once they reach 100 posts. We can ALL only rate each user for a maximum of 11 times in each 24 hour period. This is to try and stop abuse of the system. Please ask as many questions as you wish, even through PMs, and I am happy to help where I can. There is a lot of reading here in this link but it is a discussion started by a member of myLot staff some time ago where we all asked questions. Maybe you could bookmark it and go through it a bit at a time as it is extremely interesting reading : http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1402356.aspx

Hmm I tried refreshing the page and the box with the plus sign still appear after that. Does it mean that the rate does not take effect? Or it is its normal behavior. Newbie here, sorry for asking a lot of questions. :)

I do regularly rating comments of my co-mylotters. I really appreciate their replies and comments. Its the first job and the best ever that we can do to mylot members. But most of us wont do this because a bit of extra activity. It really needed to new discussion and participants to know the reply is really justified to that discussion or not.

I don't think that hitting the rate button would cause them a burden. It only take a second or two! But, to each his own. I have a wide amount of time to do it, so why not rate them as long as their responses are in relevance to my initial discussion. I appreciate that you're one of those folks that takes time to rate our co-myLotters. Good job! :)

I must agree to that. It's a way of showing appreciation. Participating alone takes time and hiting that small button is simple so why not hit it! But as I said from my other post, as long as it is not irrelevant to the topic. :)

That's what I also do irene. Whenever a myLotter drop a line or two on my discussion of interest, I visit their page and check the discussions they have started. When a particular topic sparkle my interest then I would read through the messages and respond to it. For me it's also a way to earn friends here! :)

One myLotters here said that we should read the guidelines so we can have a better understanding how it works. She's a pioneer here and I believe she very well know the do's and don'ts around here. I hope I can share what I will read on the next days to come. Thank you for dropping by here on my discussion. I hope to hear more thoughts from you. Have a good day or night :)

I will rate the responses or discussions very rarely .But we should do rate all of the discussions and responses we are reading and participating. I used to thought to rate each and every. But in most of the cases, I am failing to do so and will forget that.If I am impressed with some response or some discussion then I will rate them with positive sign. But I will never rate with negative sign for their views and will rate negatively if their contribution is against the terms of the site or if they try to insult others.I will not misuse the discussion rating system in anyway as some of the members are doing.

Well, I guess rating really depends on the person's perspective. Others are appreciative and would rate just by receiving a response on their topic and others have a lot to consider before giving it away. If it's not against the rule, then why not give it if it will affect the discussion in a positive note. Just my 2 centavos, amigo! :)

Yes, I usually do rate the ones I am responding to. I try to rat all of them, but some discussions get a lot of responses, so I don't get them all reated like I want to. I do rate most of them though. I do think it is important to rate them if we possibly can though, as help each other out this way. I also rate the responses that I get rom my own discussions that I start, however I neer start all that many. I don't rat negative unless there are referral links in the discussions, and I will rath them negative, but all others will get a positive. I will however, not rate the ones that have just a few words on one line posts. They aren't deserving of a positive, but I don't want to give them a negative either. good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Hi rosekiss! Thanks for your valuable input on this discussion. For me, as long as their comment, suggestions and responses are unique, relevant and suggestive in nature, I can give them a positive rating. Goodluck to you too. :)

I don't think you earn from rating the discussions and the comments of other people... But It will help them increase their ratings. . I like rating other people's discussion, sometimes, when I don't find something that I can comment on or a good discussion, what I'll do is just rate comments to pass time until I see a good discussion. hehehe.

Hi, Yes, most of the time i rated mylot users comments. most of them are positive trait and good.but there are times when a user is a bit more "off" in his/her comments i would prefer not rate or negative rate at all. sometimes the negative rating comes back to us.have a great day

If the user commented an off topic, that means that he/she is not well reading the discussion. I would give a negative rating too if the response is irrelevant to the main objective or topic of discussion. Thanks for your input regarding this. :)

On a rare occasion, I'll rate a comment. If the comment was very informative and helpful to me, even if it's not my discussion, I'll give positive ratings. Just a few moments ago, however, I gave a few people a positive rating for an "ownage" -type post. Someone created a discussion in which s/he was clearly not well informed about his/her topic that I have strong feelings about, and was literally being insulting.

It's interesting how each of us have our own criteria for rating. But yes, only those who gave great comments should be graded with a + rating. I hope that you'll get more ratings too from other co-myLotters. :)

Yah I just have rated one a while ago.. I think the one who has the best response deserved to be rated as best response. No one has rated my response as best response but It's okay.

I think that every response related to the topic should be rated with + rating. Just my 2cents. Don't worry, you have yet to receive it. Just keep on participating to the discussions of your choice and you'll soon get the star rating as the best respondent! :)

I don't believe the ratings make our revenue increase or decrease, it just makes the number on the star before our names (you will receive one as well when you reach your 100th post) go up or down. :) I use those buttons regularly to rate other people's comments or discussions. Or at least the positive one. If I think a discussion is interesting or a comment is good and helpful, I will rate it positive. I haven't rated a lot of posts negative, only when it was something offensive or mean or just plain wrong. I mostly just use the positive rating button!

I rated comments sometimes and give a positive sign. I have not given a negative and will not if the comment does not deserve a positive sign I will not rate it then. I have not rated other people discussion comments yet.

I definitely agree. However, my rule of thumb for giving a negative rating is that if his/her response is very rude. Off topic can be forgiven but rudeness, I don't think so. We should show respect to co-myLotters. After all, we're here to have fun and have friends. :)
