How much TV should children watch? This seems to be a question every parent in the world is battling these days. I sincerely believe most channels dish up stuff which is not conducive to being watched by kids. There is very limited fare which is good for the child and even less which is actually educative. What do you feel?

Hello! The children should be allowed to watch some selective programmes like news, educative programmes as shown in Geography channel, animal planet channel and discovery channel etc.Now a days the children are overburdened with school tasks for which they don't find enough time to spend on tv programmes.I just have allowed my children to watch these channel while going to bed.thanx.

tv - small tv
watching tv for children should be regulated. when my children were younger, i allowed them to watch cartoons only and they take naps during the afternoons for rest. when they were of school age, i made it a point not to let them watch tv during weekdays. i allowed them to watch tv with us on weekends. we even unsubscribed to the cable service because they were beginning to stay long hours watching shows on cable. we had to do that to put a stop and redirect their attention to school.

Some educational television is alright for children. However they should spend time playing with toys and looking at books. In my home country Cbeebes is a television that shows programs that are interesting and educational. One is filmed in Scotland and all the people are very well behaved. Another is Something Special which shows disabled children and helps children like them. There is a program that teaches numbers. There are some programs which tell stories. I am a primary school teacher and a parent.

Yes, there is quite a lot of junk contents stuffed in the TV shows, which is bound to pollute children's survival circumstances. In China, the supereme authorities in charge of TV stations always keep plugging away at the follow-up checks on this aspect and it plays a very important role in purifying the TV environment. I hope we could give the children a good atmosphere and let them stay far from the vicious things so as to be the right sort of timber for the country in the future.
