How many toes does your cat have? Well, Mr. Toes has a few more than the average cat. http://www2.nbc4i.com/cmh/news/national/article/cat_with_24_toes_is_the_talk_of_the_town/24943/?pickme

I did once to prove a point to the former roommate and the cat was just freaking out, she was backing up and trying to get away from me, it was so funny! Of course, she only had the normal 18 toes

Actually, cats with more toes than usual are not at all uncommon. There are several breeds of cat in which six toes on the front paws are quite frequent. The cat doesn't suffer because of it and all toes (and the claws) usually work normally. I think that 24 toes is unusual, however! Humans also can be born with more digits than usual. It is more common to find six toes on the feet than five fingers and a thumb, though that is not unknown. As with the cats, the extra digits are usually functional and normal, not vestigial in any way. The trait usually runs in families because, of course, it is genetic.

I know that, but I've never had one and I've had over 50 cats run thru the house Never had a manx or a hairless one either - in fact, only had about 6-8 long haired ones...

hi ElicBxn I am going to have to look that one up, I would love to see a kitty that has twenty four toes. wow.I do so miss not being able to have a cat, of course if I wanted to pay one hundred dollars more which I do not have, per month here at the Gold Crest retirement center I could have a cat. But I cannot afford that so have just got to admire those few here who do have cats. When I did have a cat it only had the normal amount of toes, darn.

Hiya, "cousin!" I'd love to see this poly-dactyl cat--but after copying your URL up there, & pasting it into "search," it basically just gave me a screen that repeated part of the URL! Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

I just ran out the back and took a look at both my cats’ paws and they both have the normal amount of toes, darn it! No Mr or Mrs Toes around here! The real Mr Toes is gorgeous and he sounds as though he has a lovely nature as well. I have actually heard of humans who were born with extra digits but not cats and not so many! Thanks for sharing this Elic!

well, they are often called "Hemingway" cats because Ernest Hemingway had a bunch of them in Key West. They are also frequent in the Boston/New England area and, for some reason, tho not widely known, Bastrop Texas...

but you can't see her toes real well, you need to contact these people and let them know - if she'll be a classy show girl for them and let them take pix of her toes!

Aww--he's a cutie. I actually had a poly cat...though not that many extra toes, Footie had six toes on each of his front paws. Did you know Hemingway was a nutcase about cats and especially the poly cats? even in his will, he instructed that poly-toed cats weren't to be fixed--his estate has a LOT of kitties roaming around

I think the museum only keeps one queen and a couple of distantly related toms but they are always polys... Yeah, Hemingway was a bit of a nutcase about a lot of things...

Don't you wonder what happened to cause this to certain animals and not others? I sure do but thankfully they don't know the difference and are able to live a happy life, that is, if they're in a good home which this one seems to be. She said she's having him neutered soon but that won't deter the "girls" from seeing how sexy he is. LMBO! That's really cute!! lol

yeah, well, might make the girl cats not see it, but the human girls will probably continue to fawn all over him

Our newest addition, Eli, who is named after the NY Giants quarterback, is a big white love of a cat who has 6 toes on front and back feet. He is a wonderful cat, and we are so lucky he was at the shelter when we got there. You can do anything with him, and he'll just purr.

I don't have any with extra toes, but I do have a few that I can do anything with - and then some who are all affectionate until you mess with them and then are as bad as the ferals!

Oh he is sooo cute. It is nice that he found a loving home. I used to have a cat that 6 toes on each front foot but that's the most that I have seen.

He looks very happy. What a sweetie. The cat I had had six toes on each of it's front paws. It looked like his little paws were almost perfectly round because of his toe location..
