Yes, I went grocery shopping for the big day this week and after wandering around the store I asked where the canned pumpkin was. I was told there was a shortage of pumpkin due to the rain and if there was any at all it was on aisle 3. Off to aisle 3 I went and found where the pumpkin should have been. It was on the bottom shelf under the jello. I was walking away and turned back and noticed 2 cans sitting at the back of the shelf. I got down on my hands and knees and got them. I got the pumpkin....YES! Did you know about the pumpkin shortage? Did you get your pumpkin yet? Do you have a plan B? What do you plan on eating on Thanksgiving day? I have recently lost over 50 pounds and plan on doing a very light meal. Mostly veggies and fruit and a little bit of stuffing. I am making sweet potatoes so those will be on my plate with a little turkey. My best gift to myself would be to continue getting myself down to a healthy weight.

It's a very rich chocolate pie! I don't care for it myself as it's way too strong but my DIL and her mom requested it!

We've already had our Thanksgiving and I don't like pumpkin so I had Lemon. Wow fifty pounds that's amazing I wish I could do that. My biggest problem is not what I eat, I eat one piece of pie once a year and a piece of cake seven times a year for birthdays. I very much dislike sweets except for the ocassional cinnamon bun. Not big on junk food period, I do enjoy popcorn. My meals are healthy but I get almost Zero exercise due to health issues. If I ever got down on the floor to exercise I'd never get up. When I was younger I did a lot of walking and now that I can't I really miss it a lot and I do believe walking is good. Congratulations on your tremendous weight loss and have a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.

thanksgiving day was over...let's just talk about pumpkin. From the description I then come to know there are canned pumpkin available in the market in your place. We don't have this here instead of the raw ones fresh from the farm. Pumpkin is nutritive vegetable and delicious as well. We usually use it to cook spicy tick curry. We prepare pumpkin bun with grinding pumpkin and flour as well. It's nice to have a plate of stirred pumpkin to take together with rice. Happy posting

No, that hasn't happened to me yet. I would be surprised. But then again, this year we had store bought pies at our table. And I am still struggling to get last years baby weight off myself. You are not alone there. :)

hi debs you are inspiring me to do likewise. I need desperately to do something to lose fifty pounds. I am a diabetic and went from 207 to 210 and that won't help my blood glucose level at all. so am going to cut back and get some sort of exercise. I am in a retirement center so have no control over what is given to us but imagine it will be turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce as it was last year.I came here the day before thanksgiving and waS a very unhappy camper. my son and I had been homeless because he lost his job and we ran out of money to pay the damnable rent so were evicted.I was 82 and slightly handicapped so my son wanted me to be safe, hence this place! he is in gov.sponsored housing with three other men all of whom are still looking for work. I am now thankful to be at least safe with a roof over my head. my social security and SSI check pay for this each month and leave me with enough for my personal needs.

I actually didn't know that there was a shortage on canned pumpkins, but as far as the fresh ones went, I knew that there was a shortage on those. It actually started locally before Halloween. There were school groups that were taking trips to the local orchards and the kids didn't get to bring home a pumpkin because there were none that were left, so many of them had rotted due to all of the rain that we had during this past summer. As far as our Thanksgiving dinner, I am really not sure what we are going to be having, we are eating dinner with my mother for the first time in eight years and I honestly don't know what she is going to be cooking. However, regardless of what she cooks, I know that it is going to be tasty.

I did hear that. I used to work at the local store here and they told me. They also said to get your turkeys now too because there probably won't be any for Christmas.

You know I've yet to make a pumpkin pie in all the years (about 25-30) that I've been cooking instead I make a Sweet Potato pie..just as great I think and not hard to make--as for what I'm having. Well the moola is kind of low so I might opt to make my special beouf bourgnignon meal that I had for my birthday last Thursday. Since I already have the ingredients for it, it'll save me money and congrats on losing 50 pounds

i had no idea that there was a pumpkin shortage. of course i live in austrlia and there is definately n shortage here. i mean, in our climate they are very easy to grow and we grow them ourselves for our own and family use and have them coming out our ears. the other reason this caught my eye was because you have CANNED PUMPKIN. i have never heard of this before. we have always had fresh pumpkin even if we did have to buy it from the shops and i didnt know that canned pumpkin even existed. what form is it in? piece? cubes? puree?

Fortunate for me I only need to make one pumpkin pie and I was able to find the pumpkin to make it. I just heard that on the news this morning. My sister is freaking out she had agreed to make 4 dozen pumpkin cupcakes for her church. She has been going from store to store today looking and can't seem to find enough. She is not sure what she is going to do. I told her to make another kind they would understand

We usually buy the pumpkin pies that are already made. Sometimes they are out of them so we than have to buy the frozen pumpkin pies which has to been cooked yet and they are really very good tasting for a frozen pie. Will be having ham, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, dinner rolls, maybe turkey along with pies for dessert.

Hi debs, No pumpkin shortage here at least the fresh ones. Also we have had a lot of Rain a huge amount all in one go. Pumpkin is very popular all year round so maybe here someone over here grows it specially. I find it quite expensive to use all the time but I do buy it every so often. Enjoy your Thanksgiving everyone this time I even know the Date of your Holidays as I´ve took the trouble to learn a bit about it. We have so many Holidays here they don´t fit on the Calendar lol. Viva España lol way to go. Sue.

Yes, I knew about the pumpkin shortage, someone on another site had posted about this last month, and then Libby's made it official this week. I had some pumpkin from last year and I got some when Wal Mart restocked last month, but now we are like you said, out of luck. I like to stir a spoon full of pumpkin and some spices into my oatmeal in the winter, yummy. I will have a chance to have lots of family time for Thanksgiving, along with probably too much food. I think that butternut squash puree would work nicely in place of pumpkin. I am learning to like more vegetables all of the time, and try to make most of my noon meal out of veggies.

I don't think we had any kind of pumpkin shortage in our area. I bought a can of pumpkin less than a week ago and the shelves were stocked! I'm glad you were able to get your pumpkin, eventually! Way to go on losing the 50lbs! I'm hoping for a healthy holiday and wishing you one too. :-)
