It is a P2P program which helps you download anything in torrent. The one I use is utorrent. Basically, it is a non-traditional way of downloading but a very practical one since you just let it open on the background while you do some other things on the internet. When you turn your PC off, you won't lose everything even of you haven't finish the download because it will resume when you open your PC again. It saves time and it does not need much effort. Just be careful because you'll never know if what you are downloading is malware-free or not. I really love the idea of this program since it somewhat enables everyone to share what they have. Even if you havent finish your download, you will be able to share what you have already downloadded to other people who are downloading the same file as well. you will understand the workings on this program when you use it. This is a very powerful program, just be careful and vigilant on what you download.. :D

Just keep your antivirus updated and once the download is done, just scan it. If it shows malwares, then just delete it. I am a bit of a freak when it comes to malwares but i must admit that I can't let my utorrent go. It's just too useful to let go. there are a lot of hard-to-find files out there that are only available thru torrent. i also don't like it when I donwload something and my internet suddenly gets disconnected because that would mean I have to download everything again whereas on utorrent, I just leave it there and it will notify me once a download is done..just try it for yourself for a period of time, if you feel it isn't for you, then just uninstall it..:D

Thanks for your response, i was rather confused about it. but it seems a rather dangerous alternative for downloading. Doesn't the installed antivirus of the computer detect viruses or trojans, when it's downloading? How can one prevent or detect viruses and trojans, when using bit torrent?

Hey zkapfo, Good question. Bittorrent is a sharing environment between computers which could be yours, mine or whosoever. In this environment you can share all kinds of files, audio, movies, actually everything. It is also known for the vast amount of illegal content spread by users. And indeed it comes without costing you anything, except for a solid connection, as that is an important factor in the overall speed between users if you're downloading, as you're supposed to help uploading the file as well. I'm certain that when you read a guide you'll understand the basics, but you have to be really participating in order to understand it, slowly but surely.

Hi diamania, thanks for the response, i was a bit confused about it earlier. Your response has helped me tremendously in understanding the basics of bit torrent. So it's about file and resource sharing, right? One last query, any good and free bit torrent software? and where to download it?

A bit torrent is a way to share large files between people. A lot of people use it to illegally download movies, music and programs from the internet, although a lot of legitimate file sharing is done as well. A person starts by creating a bit torrent file and uploading it to be shared, then another person downloads it, and if they want, they can leave it to "seed", which means that their copy of the file can also allow it to be shared. In this way, as more people download and seed, the file becomes easier to find by others and download. It has been estimated that bit torrents account for up to 55% of internet traffic.

hey, Zkapfo. I also have utorrent and like others said, its very interesting as you are able to get all the latest newest movies downloads that is otherwise not available for free. And though, I know that through torrents we actually promote piracy which is also a a known fate that it is impossible to detect the source of piracy using torrents. huh! One has to be careful while using torrents. By the see, great to see another fellow naga here...

The program I use for bittorrent is called bitcomet. It is not faster than other methods, it just depends on the quantity of seeds are sharing the file. Is just a downloading program. The bad thing I find in bittorrent is that it will eat all my band broad, and makes my internet work super slow, even if it's downloading quickly.

That happens with each and every program especially with lower internet speeds. I don't have much problems because I will never reach my maximum download or upload speed as most seed/leech ratios make it impossible to go very high. ( 30 mbps down, 3 up)
