Godless Ads?

I am a christian and before anyone who is not or thinks that I do not have the same freedom of speech chimes in let me make this clear. I am not posting this question to say anyone elses beliefs are wrong or that they haven't the right to believe as they wish. You may think I am being defensive but the last time I started a discussion about anything concerning religion people were verbally bashing me and asking me why I think my beliefs are superior to theirs. I don't. Anyways. I saw an article that kind of stunned me concerning recent holiday ads. The ads said "No god, No problem" and was directed towards the Christmas Holiday. What puzzles me is why are non believers so bothered by religious holidays that have been celebrated for so many years without major conflict? No one makes anyone worship or participate in any holiday. No one makes anyone celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday nor is anyone being made to take days off or get paid holiday pay. The ideal of Christmas being a time to enjoy friends, family and the exchanging of gifts should be enough for anyone of any faith to enjoy and not want to start a conflict over. It makes me wonder what it is going to take to pacify peoples complaints. Thanksgiving for instance was originally a religious holiday and now is a secular one. People to me however do not get quite as worked up about Thanksgiving as they do about Christmas concerning religion. So my question is do you think that Godless Ads are necessary? Would you have a problem with your children seeing ads that denounce the existence of "Any" god when it comes to Christmas? Thank you for your replies.

That's heartbreaking for a number of reasons. First, why are they so bothered by Christmas? They don't object to Ramadan or Halloween. It seems to me that there is a dedicated effort to wipe out Christianity. Nobody objects to someone publicly practicing Wicca, Paganism, Islam, Buddhism, etc. Only Christianity is under attack, objectionable, etc. Christmas is a birthday celebration. Why do they want to change it? Because they use it as a day to give and receive presents and they don't want it to mean anything else. Maybe we should establish "Xmas", since they've been calling Christmas that for years. Xmas would occur on December 22 or 23 and be just for people who want to celebrate materialism and family togetherness. Then they would leave Christmas alone, maybe.

Celestos, I've heard it said that it takes more faith NOT to believe in God than it does to believe. I thought about that for a long time and I think it's correct. It takes a lot of faith in a belief that there is nothing higher in order to ignore the miracles all around us.

mains50, Muslims here in the states are allowed to broadcast their calls to prayer every day and celebrate their holidays. As Christians, we are not allowed to have public displays of a Nativity scene--when I lived in the Southwest, we were not even allowed to ring our churchbells because they might offend a non-Christian. No billboards or other public signs were allowed if they were Christian but other religions were allowed to do so. At the Grand Canyon, all Christian symbols were removed but others allowed to stay. I don't hear a lot of hate towards Islam. In fact, people seem to bend over backward to be sure that everyone knows that the terrorists are a very minuscule segment of that religion.

Well I am not really bothered by it, I celebrate Christmas every year since I was born but in truth I know it has no biblical backing and was originally a pagan holiday. But as with any other day you can choose to spend it how you wish. Christ was more concerned with the disciples keeping in mind the things he taught them and the told them at the last supper than he was of his birth date (which hasn't been proven to be anywhere near Christmas). Where are these Godless adds being displayed by the way, I haven't seen any?

People that make it their life to attack a religion are funny. They have no life, and are just sad. If you don't believe in God, then why bother trying to convince people it isn't real? Its pointless. Get a job. Getting in everyone's face telling them that there is no God, is just as annoying as getting in someone's face, and tell them there is a God. Get a life. Get your own life.
