I was wondering how everyones holiday stress levels have been thus far this year? With Christmas getting so close how are you dealing with the stress related with the financial parts of the holidays? Between the situations and lack of americans and their health care and the lack of available long term jobs people are surely struggling some this year. How are you dealing with the holiday stress? How have you changed your normal holiday traditions in order to save a little money and still have an enjoyable holiday? Will you not be traveling due to the still lingering swine flu? All replies are welcome:)

I have been really stressed this Christmas season because of financial problems. I am blessed to have a job, but things have been slow lately due to budget cutbacks. In addition to that, my wife and I now have a baby. This year, my wife and I are cutting back on the gifts we are giving for Christmas. Instead of getting a lot of stuff, we are going to focus on spending more quality time with our families. We will definitely give them a little something, but the most important thing is to spend time with them.

That does sound stressful. Can I ask what your making to give as gifts? I think thats a good ideal but for someone like me who is all thumbs I have no ideal what I would make myself lol

Christmas doesn't stress me out at all, never has. I save up through the year for the gifts I give and I make a lot of them, which is very relaxing. I decided that since I'm by myself this year, I won't bother with outside lights and just put up lights inside around the windows--no ladders, no freezing, no stress and I still have a pretty house for others to enjoy! I'm not baking, either, there's nobody to bake for and since I'm on a diet there's no sense in it. I don't have a job but I do have a small income so I'm okay, I just have to be very careful. Haven't had the flu or the shot, either. I'm a person who refuses to stress at Christmas, it's just a blessed Birthday after all and very precious to me. When something disturbs me about this time of year, I change it--like not putting lights on the outside and not baking. I hope you have a lovely Christmas free of stress and with lots of joy!
