Try not to confuse java with javascript because these are two different things.

First, you can learn a lot from w3schools.com (that's where everybody goes), they offer primer on HTML and CSS. Then practice making your own HTML documents. If you are a visual learner, you can learn a lot from Lynda.com, they offer high quality training on different Languages and Adobe programs. Download Notepad ++ and start coding (don't just use dreamweaver or other similar applications, you'll never learn!). If you'll be comfortable on handcoding, it'll be easier for you to learn. Visit CSS-Tricks.com by Chris Coyier and that's where you learn a lot of CSS. HTML is a very easy language to learn, so I bet you'll learn in a week if you'll put your interest on it. Cheers!

Well I have been learning HTML for a while now. It's not too hard but it take some practice and a little memorization. http://www.htmldog.com/ has some indepth tutorials and the like. To me w3c it the best place to learn.

I think you should learn to use dreamweaver it's a program that has options to for example insert tables and you see code and the wisual effect. You have to know basic html to know how to read html code but with dreamweaver you can also create a website that's a bit more complex and visually attractive.
