hi mylotters, you see, i got this linux os called ubuntu 9.10 (live cd image) and fedora 12 dvds free from a tech magazine, but i don't know how to go about installing the os. Currently i'm running my pc on vista ultimate, but i want to install the linux os in another partition and use it. I'll be grateful if someone here can kindly guide me in installing this os on my pc. Thank you.

This is very first you have to change your PC mood in reboot from cd. Then put you cd in to the roller. your computer will load it and then follow the instruction written bellow. See you can easily install the linux os in another partition.

you can install ubuntu easely on your pc in 2 main ways:so yo cna request a free cd from some ubuntu teams around the world and so in this case the cd ill be sent to your adress and afterthat you can install it as normal or you can download directly from your computer choosing a mirror to download the ubuntu os from the country nearest to you,in this way the downloa should eb better and fast!! If you download from ubuntu site and save your copy on cd you can..you just download the file afterthat youc an burn on a cd and you can start yoru ubuntu os directly from your cd...or even pendrive if you like more!!

you can keep windows XP and ubuntu together but you cannot keep vista and ubuntu. This is my experience. To keep XP with ubuntu-first install XP in one partition and then install ubuntu in another partition.Installing ubuntu is easy.Follow the instructions after booting the DVD or CD.
