The Mars exploration is still developing. The distance between earth and mars is about 55 million kilometers. It will take nearly 3 yrs to get their and return.Due to this the astronauts are facing dangers in their long flights. Due to the near zeor gravity in outer space the bones of the humans could loss its calcium content and gets weak. The report says that if this happens then the bones could easily fracture when they land in earth. So they are facing a real problem in the Mars exploration. So, they have suggested to use robots to explore mars instead of humans.Advanced robots can perform the necessary action as the humans say.Human operators can exactly sees what the robots sees as they have screen videos worn as goggles. The hands of the robots are also connected with sensors. They have decided to test on the moon or space station first before using it into Mars because the distance between earth and mars matters. The technology is developing faster than the reality, right ? Share your thoughts in this...!

Technologically robots have been around for quite some time as we have little use for it and it is used mainly for studies which humans cannot penetrate, such as outer space in this matter, it does us due diligence to understand more who are neighbors are. As artificial intelligence expands and studies how elements and life beyond responds to condition, they can help us predict what is the future as well as prepare us for any catastrophic phenomenon.

That's only when they start having a conscious of their own which we'll endowed to them - i.e the movie 9. I think we all have robotic tendencies until someone actually pinches us and tells us hey 'wake up!'

Well said friend.Artificial Intelligence expands as you said.I think robots will play a major role in future.Hope it will do good and not bad as shown in the movies.lol!

as a matter of fact, gany, as early as 40 years ago, space explorations of mars was using various types of robots with different abilities -- like taking soil samples, measuring the temperature, even taking pictures. but, i think, there's nothing substantial yet about these things. robots, until this time, cannot do what humans can. of course, robots can dance, but not as well as humans. also, robots can speak, but their vocabularies are limited by what is inputted in their memories. cognition is another problem. it will take time before a robot can be made to do exactly or even near what humans can do...

Ya, i agree that robots can't do as much as human but sending the robots to the mars and getting the informations are possible.I'm not expert in robotics.I don't know anything about that but up to my knowledge humans can see what robots can see with the help of goggles and the robots hands are also connected in the sensor so it can also be operated. But it will take time to make well advanced robot.I wish all the best to the astronauts.

nasa had been sending robots to mars since the sixtees. some of them have returned, others got lost. some even returned with soil samples, others with photographs of the planet's surface. i think, they are now fine-tuning the exploration of mars, hoping to send an astronaut the shortest time possible.

Hi Gany, While it's true that technology is developing very fast, I feel that a new breakthrough that will allow us to travel many hundreds of times faster is much closer than some people think. While robots can do a lot,the world won't be satisfied until we have placed a man on mars. I fully believe that the time is coming when interplanetary travel will be the norm. Blessings.

Yes, the astronauts are working hardly in Mars exploration.Surely they will do miracles in future.Hope that interplanetary travelling is done as soon as possible.ha ha ! But it is very much complicated when it comes to distance. But time will decide it.

I think it's a very cool development and a good start, but I'd still love to see people out in space one day for more than just a "there and back" kind of journey...

Ya, it will be very good.If this happens then only well developed people can make a journey. There should be a day for everyone making use of it.I think people will not go to space even if they get a chance. They will think that if anything bad happens means ? As you said it will be really good to go there like a journey.

Good thing that robots can do much more now than before, but I think is too early to let those things run the entire operation. The Mars rover Spirit is still stuck in the sand as far as I know, and that's as far as the robot can go, is now trying to save power through the winter. We barely explored the Moon during the past decade, and now they are thinking more about Mars already. Without first build a base on the moon, it would be very costly to run the Mars operation back and forth. After all 1/6 gravity is the most ideal place to act as a shuttle base, it will making launching shuttles much easier, and less costly. To truly explore Mars we still need people down there, boneloss could be compensated through simulated gravity with rotating motion, and also mechancial exercise. Right now our shuttles are mostly outdated, and going to Mars in a rocket won't be very comfortable. We should fully utilize the Moon before we thinking about moving in on Mars, right now we are just throwing more junk on other planets, a bad habit for novice explores like us humans. We also need better shuttles for long distance space travel, when you are all alone in space you better be prepared for anything, Apollo 13 barely made it back just from the Moon, imagine something goes wrong in between Earth and Mars, dying in the middle of no where is not something you want to experience.
