This is a total curiousity question. I've seen busses parked after the time in which my kids are picked up. What do bus drivers do? How do they pass the time? Do they get bored? For all bus drivers or people who know bus drivers, please let me know. Thanks

Well the school bus drivers here go on to drive the bus for regular passengers. I don't know what the school buses are like in your area, but in Spain they are just regular ordinary passenger buses that do the school run.

So your community bus drivers take your kids to school? That is so interesting. In most of the US, there is a specific bus that takes kids to school and back. I would appreciate your way, since it would allow school kids to get accustomed to public transportation. Thanks so much for your reply.

The school bus drivers here are regular drivers on other routes during the day. A neighbour of mine drives a school bus in the morning and afternoon and spends the rest of his working day on our local bus route.

One of my good friends has been a school bus driver since the early 1980's. She has always worked 2 jobs. She drives bus for the morning run, then works at Giant Eagle until the evening drop-offs after school. She decided to do that to take up the hours inbetween while earning some extra. Nice that the grocery store is willing to work along with her bus driving hours! Another girlfriend is a substitute bus driver for the past 15 years. She never took a second job inbetween the hours and prefers to just do the morning and evening bus runs at whatever school needs her driving for that day. Since she has to drive a long way to get to any of the bus garages, she feels it's enough just holding just one job. The other friend that works is at the same bus garage and school district all of the time, plus she lives locally to it and to the grocery store, so that works out for her. I call these two friends 'women of steel' lol. While I love all ages of children, it can't be easy with the way a lot of kids are now-a-days (read: disrespectful)

I don't know what bus drivers do in your area. But the drivers in our area, after driving their bus with students to school, most probably they do other duties. Such as driving tourists to hotel or other places of interest. They try to make an extra buck by doing other trips
