Hello , friend! Do you prefer eat out or home cook meals for your self ? I personally like to eat my home cook meal than fast food joints, i belief my cooking skill is better and love the taste of meal prepared at home than most of the fast food that are prepared by teens or inexperience young adult cook nowadays, majority of these fast food are tasteless in my personal opinion. That is the main reason i prefer eat at home whenever possible instead of having my meal at fast food joints unless i am in a hurry and really short on time. But sometimes i also like to eat food from casual restaurants if i can afford it, some of these restaurants can cook much tasty food than most of the fast food joints here. So what is your reason for eating out or dine in ? You can share with us here.

hello lampar, well i would also choose the home cooked foods! its taste is just so different from foods from restaurants or fastfoods. maybe because when we are cooking these foods for ourselves & for our family, there's some love included. and we are cooking it based on their preference and in our own taste. and besides, we are sure that the food we are eating are clean & well prepared & really fresh. sometimes, my husband & i do also eat with some resto & fastfood chains, but not always, just when we are out and already hungry and sometimes just to treat ourselves and to have a break. you know sometimes even if how delicious the food that we cook in the house, there will come a time that we want to taste others cookings as well and from there i can get an idea of what to cook in the house the next time...hehe

That is right, ckyera!! If we eat home cook meal every day in a year, we will be tired of them even though usually it taste better and cleaner most of the time, but then eat out few time a month also give us some new ideas of various delicacies and have a change of taste, also break from kitchen routine and experience different type of cuisine from different casual restaurants; especially for some one like me, doesn't mind try out different ethnic food and various cuisine from different culture and country. I find that fulfilling be able to taste different types of cuisines from different culture and country in my life time. For others, may be is different thought. Thank for your response. Cheer!

I will get fed up with my own home cook meal if i eat them for a straight seven days in a week, i have too few tasty cuisines i can make for a week or month. I have no choice except eat out few times a month so i will not think of myself eating the same food all the time, in return wouldn't depress my appetite. I assume it is the same for you too.

yeah yeah, and actually i notice that when i am always cooking at home, it seems to me that all the foods that i am cooking tastes the same! haha and sometimes i really get tired and fed up? hehe so eating out once in a while is needed as well to have a break from our daily routine & the usual that we have, sometimes i feel it like pampering ourselves even in that simple way of eating out!

Hi, lampar. I prefer to eat at home than out to a diner. I do eat out when I don't feel like cooking or eating any home cooked food. But this is only every month or so. I usually will cook twice in a week. I like cooking my own food because I get to clean my food the way that I am comfortable with. I don't like to just eat from a place that I don't know has cleaned their area the way that it should be. I love home cooked food at a diner and at home. It is more nutritious to eat this way. But, overall, I prefer eating my own cooking from home.

Yes, cream97. ..you can be certain about the cleanliness of home cook meal prepared by yourself, but not those in the restaurants or fast food joints, also not sure how clean their kitchen are....especially with all these shocking hidden cams revealing the actual scenario normally out of the customer watchful eyes showing on TV...it just give me a pause whenever i decide to eat out....hahaha.... May be you are feeling the same. Thank for your response. Continue happy mylotting .

I love to eat at home and at a restaurant for different reasons. There really is excellent foods at restaurants. You can get a variety of choices that you may not get at home because you don't know how to cook those meals or have the ingredients. Plus it so much fun and so relaxing to have someone serve you the food and the place may have a very serene, exciting etc atmosphere that adds to your experience of eating. At the same time I feel that home cooking is great. I've had some of the best food from eating at my home and others. There is something warm and comforting about eating and sharing foods with people you know. So I guess you can see that I love both of them equally.

One of the reasons I like to cook at home is because it is less expensive than eating out. Another reason I've seen so many of those hidden cameras on TV that show what people do to our food before we get it. I think its horrible they way people handle the food that they serve us.

Hi, debra..those hidden cam showing how some restaurant employees prepared the food must have creep you out. lol!! It is mind boggling some of these employees are capable of doing to the food for a paying customer and to someone that did nothing wrong to them. I think that is horrible, may be it is another reason for you and me to dine in for our home make food now. Thank for your opinion.

I am used to eat home and prefer to cook meals for myself. I feel my cooking skill is really good. I often do some delicious food for myself, especially on weekends. Sometimes I eat out when I get together with my friends. Or I particularly want to eat some certain foods which I can't do. :)

Mostly I prefer home meals, as I know what is going in to the food and they have much less fat and calories then restuarant meals and taste just as good if not better. However, since I am the one that cooks every night, I do occasionally enjoy eating out and lettnig someone else do the cooking for a change and having a nice break from cooking.

I agree, ladym33, occasionally eating out will give you some break away from getting bore and stress out preparing your own food and for others. It is also a good way to get some new ideas for a different dish by eating out. lol! Thank for your response.

For me, home cooked food is still the best.. I used to eat out a lot with hubby before because I didn't know how to prepare Filipino meals. Since we would like to save for our future, i have decided to learn the art of cooking. I have browsed for recipes online and read cooking books as well.. the first meal i prepared was sinigang na baboy (sour soup pork). I didn't expect that my hubby would love it! i liked it too. The taste has a resemblance with my mom's way of cooking.. the sour taste makes it stand out.. we rarely eat out nowadays and it helps us save a lot of money..

Hi gracie04! you save a lot money by dine in through home make meal, that is really nice. The restaurant food in Philippine must be very expensive in your case; then it is not practical to eat out often since doing so will burn a big hole in your bank account. lol!! Thank for your response.

I prefer to eat out when it's a good restaurant but I prefer to eat at the home if eating out means fast food. I love to eat at restaurants. If I could I would eat there everyday.

I also love to home cook since some of my cookin' was learned from my grandmother. Compared to home cooking fastfood is rushed most of the time. While cooking at home, you can taste and see how the food is turning out. Only at restaurants where the chef is taking his time to do it right and tasting it, like Mom used to do, will it be near perfect. Sometimes with things being mass produced, there is too much salt and other ingredients put in (especailly at fast food restaurants.) That's why I hate to go to KFC, because one day it's just right and the next it's too salty.

That is right, Rob... fast food is like a mass produced meals, i still can't see how come many still love to eat this type of food, you will surprise in certain fast food joints, you still have to wait in a long line just to order it. It is just puzzling....while it is called 'fast food'. lol!! Casual restaurant prepared food is more like a meal to me and quite similar to my home cook food as far as i am concerned, the chef is taking some time to cook instead of delivering it quickly like fast food joints. Thank for your response.....happy mylotting!

There is nothing I like better than cooking a nice meal for my family. Home cooked food overall tastes so much better - and you know what has gone into it too! I do like to go out to a restaurant every now and again for a quiet meal with my husband, but fast food joints I just find the worst eating experience there is! The other week my two teenage sons somehow or other co-erced me into taking them to MacDonalds whilst we were out for the day. Never again! The place was so packed you couldn't move, there was not one table free so we had to go and stand outside and eat, the guy taking the order got it all completely wrong and overcharged me and above all - the food was awful! Give me a nice home cooked meal any day.

Yes, tabbycat! I agree those food are awful many years before, but now it is getting worse with some of these joints always pack with people, it is funny seem like more people love fast food nowadays in USA due to unknown reasons, may be those fat and calories are doing the trick for them...lol!! Thank for your response and sharing of your experience, have a nice day!

Woah you got many responses for this lampar! ^^ Well for me, I love fast foods because they have varieties of menus and even now, I can imagine it's so much delicious!!! ^^ I like pizzas especially from s-barro and also like french fries(much calories ^^). I don't like that much other pasta servings or italian foods except pizza and spaghetti, I prefer Asian foods and other some American foods like hamburger, hotdog in bread and fries. And besides I'm not really a good cook. It's pretty awkward to say this because I am a girl, but I don't know much of cooking except frying chicken, hotdogs, eggs, ham, etc; baking cakes, cooking rice and soup (mostly chicken soup). My mother taught me how to cook Adobo, a filipino dish composed mainly of pork, sauce, and pineapple (optional), but then it was in my high school and I don't know if I still know hot to cook Adobo.LOL. Hmm maybe I'l cook for tomorrow's dinner. Let me see how good is my memory. Nice topic! ^^

Hello, summer77! I am in total shock that i am getting more than 30 responses on this one after i log in today, you are right on this. I never expect more than ten responses on this discussion since i usually come out with boring topic to the eye of Mylot members, it is a big surprise to me... i am nearly dumbfounded !!!!!! lol!!! Don't worry you are a girl and you are not really a good cook, nothing in life saying that you have to be a good cook just because you are a girl... lol!! I like different ethnic food not just Asian food, that include extremely spicy food and lightly spice food. But then again, i am not fond of fast food in general like you, i am surprised you love them, but then again, different people had variety of taste buds, delicious to me may not means the same to you. As for Filipino food you mentioned, did you normally serve them hot and they are cooked in various spices like most of the South East Asian delicacies, just wondering ... Base on your account, actually you did know how to cook some dishes, so at least you can cook...that is great. Thank for sharing your eating experience here...and cheer!!

The purpose of visiting restaurant is to be familiar with the variety of food which is not otherwise made at home may be due to the unavailability of time,or high cost of the cooking ingredients,or due to an unknown recipe. If the wastage of the cooking stuffs can be avoided by keeping them in freeze, home made food is all preferable, because it saves money,it gives the flexibility to adequately add either sugar or salt to what is being cooked,it saves us from having a food-poison.So,the choice depends upon the trade off between time and money.

hi! now you put me in a great dilemma! I really love the home cooked dished of my mom and grandmother, but i also like the dishes at the restaurant, because they are different from the ones i eat at home, and they are also very delicious too, becaues are cooked from a chef cook :) i really can't decide which one i like the most, and that's why i will say they are 50/50 to me

I prefer home cook. Because of many reason. One its much healthy to eat home food than restaurant food. Second its customize to my own taste buds. Third I know who cooks. In restaurant we don't know if we can get clean food or not. Some employee spit on foods as a form of a joke.

Hi, bulastika, you just give a convincing reason not to eat out, so you can avoid food spit on by employee as joke; as a way to make your food taste good..that is a good one...hahahaha.... You are right on, you never know whether it is clean or not, unless you are sitting in the restaurant kitchen watching the chef prepare and cook your food...hahaha.. Thank for your response.... and cheer!! friend!

I like to experiment a lot.I try to make all delicacies at home.I prefer home made food because it is fresh and hygenic.Fast food is strictly no no for me but my growing children are crazy about Mc Donalds and Pizza Hut.I try to make pizzas and burgers at home with success.I prefer recipes from cook books and internet. When i am in hurry i prefer toats and jam but no fast food. There are several fastfood outlets in my locality but i dont think the food is always fresh and prepared hyginically ,its junk and spicy.I prefer dining out in a good resturant once or twice in a month for the sake of my children.

Hi, julia28! I am still wondering why children and teen found those crappy fast food delicious, may be it is the reason fast food joints want to pack ton of calories and fat in them, to get your children pester you into their joints. lol!! Thank for your response. Happy mylotting to you!!

Hi, sadna82, sometimes it is a lot of fun just to experiment and exploring various way to cook, but not all the times. lol!!! I am sure it is much hygienic compare to restaurant since you are in your own kitchen and doing the cooking, unless your own kitchen is a junk yard , then it is another story...Yes! mom cooking is always the best. Agree 100%....hahaha.... Thank for your response.
