Pretending everything is fine

March 4, 2010 11:41am CST
When it's most definitely not. Hands up who is guilty of this? *raises own hand* Be honest But how long can we keep up the smiley happy pretence that all is rosy before we lose it completely? Why do we pretend everything is ok? Is it denial? Because we want everything to be ok? Because we are genuinely trying to make it ok? Or are we just a bit stupid?

it's one way to avoid conflict. it's not being stupid. i'ts saving one's face from embarassing other people. in doing so, people will just read between the lines. well maybe this won't work for all, but for me it is effective way of avoiding heated arguements. better shut up smile and turn your back and say everything's fine :-)

I truly believe I am in control of my own destiny...and I truly find it MUCH EASIER on my physche to find the good...make good happen...and strive for GOOD! Call me the eternal optimist...as I am! But negativity, I dwell little on! Call me stupid, that's alright with me, if I wish to be stupid and happy..and content in my world...it's a good thing, for me! Cheers!

I don't think so..dear lady! I wouldn't want to take the "feist" away from you! LOL! All kinds of us are here for different reasons...and I guess my role...is the neutralizer...diffusing trouble at it's onset, and putting a lighter spin on things! My world is just simpler if it is non-confrontational...but to others, that is the spark of life. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Whether something is fine or not, is definitely in the eye of the beholder. What may be passible with one, may be totally unacceptable to another. I think that when we pretend that something is fine (even when it isn't) is because we really don't want others to know what bothers us. That shows a weakness that can be exploited. Sort of like some one inviting their compulsive cleaner friend over when their apartment gets too messy.

i did that always with my friend. maybe because i dont want them to have pity on me thats why, or perhaps its just about my pride or something. like what happened to me now, that my bf left me, i didnt tell them the truth, what they know is my bf still visiting me and still giving me support. i always give them a fake smile pretending every thing is fine but the truth is im not.

I think we are damn stupid. Happy go lucky doesn't fit me at all these days. You can only take so much and pretend only that far. Give it up. Open your mouth and just let it go. At least it will make you feel better and what happens to the others in the prosess.? Who really cares? TATA.
