My first salary I very well remember was meager by today's standard. I earned my first salary nearly 48 years ago. However, those days rupee had a great value those day. I had earned Rs. 105.00 as my first salary. I remember I had gleefully placed the entire salary in my mom's hand much to her delight. She gave me some pocket money out of it. I gave my friends a treat and then took them to watch a movie.

I remember in 1966 I used to get my suit stitched for Rs. 65.00. I was spending Rs. 56.00 for my accommodation, breakfast and lunch together. I did not know what to do with the remaining Rs. 170.00. I was sending quite a substantial amount to my old parents for their maintenance. Yea, those were the days.

I bought pampers and baby supplies. I was fresh out of high school and I did not want my mother taking care of me and my baby anymore so I got a job and did what I had to do for me and my daughter. I moved out with the 5th check and have not been back since. That was 13 yrs ago.

my 1st salary was not much. But i had thought of buying something for my parents with that. But since my salary was not enough, i decided to give it to my parents as my token of love and the respect i have for them.

Hi, friend. Getting one's first salary is always something exciting. Even for now, it is still vivid in my mind. I started working in 2008 and was almost overjoyed with my first salary. I couldn't wait to tell my parents about it. As soon as i was off work, i rushed to the phone booth to call my parents who were very excited too. Later, i bought some presents for my parents and my elder sisters. As to the rest, i save up to make a living.

I bought a lot of things for my family and treat some food for my friends. But now, I am working for a new company which means i'll be receiving my first salary here. To make it memorable, i'd like to buy some relief goods for the victims of fire. Some of my friends live there and lost everything. Actually, it's a squatter area so they desperately need my help. Hope it will be good as I thought.

thats wonderful. Its normal for one to buy something for one's family members on receipt of first salary, but to think of victims of fire and do something for them, speaks aout your kind heart. Keep it up.

I feel very sorry for you that your first salary got pick pocketed. I still remember the day I got my first salary it was around 19 years ago it was like I had achieved something in life at that time it was only 1500 rupees but the first thing I did after I got my salary was give it to my mom who kept it on the altar and prayed to GOD. After that she gave me 100 rupees and said I could do anything I want with it. I went down and did not understand what to do so I went and bought something for my 2 sisters and my mom. I can still feel the joy my mom felt and the tears that ran down her cheeks. She was proud of me and she still is.

Hi avani, Nice to leran aboutyour first salary experience. Its common for us to buy something for our family membres on receiving first salary, and make them happy. You know why we do so? because we derive great pleasure by making our loved one happy. isn't it?

I am a believer of some charm, I was influenced by my mother. So my first salary, before spending anything else. I gave a portion of percentage in the church and then I buy a bag of salt. I don't get the connection, but that's the believe of my mother which I also follow.

I treated my parents as my way of saying thank you to them for bringing me into this world and for giving me a good life ahead of me since I was still a baby. Aside from that, thanking them for the values they have instilled in me as a grew up and for helping me become what I am now with the values they have taught me.

I can`t exactly remember what i did with my first salary because it was a very long time ago, in 1969 to be exact. I was still studying but joined a small company on a part time basis. I was the only staff member besides my boss, his secretary and a peon. When i got my first salary i was feeling absolutely over the moon. I think i handed the entire amount which by todays standards, even a beggar will earn more, to my mother and just took very little for daily expenses. In those days there was no scope to buy anything or indulge in anything, so most of it went for household expenses.

First salary is truly a special thing. Sorry to hear about your first salary. ^_^' I was so excited for my first job and first salary that I listed stuff I wanted to do with it. I was even joking, "Hahaha, I haven't even received my first salary but everything's (technically) spent already!" While typing this, I looked at that list and realized I only checked like 2 items out of around 15 stuff I wanted to do with it. I paid back my mom because I borrowed money from her so I can apply for a job. The most important thing I kept in mind was to treat my family to lunch with my first salary. My wage was so small, I think I didn't do anything else with it. I think I may have saved some in my bank account. I remember that my teammates (all of us new employees; we were all trained at the same time) and I wouldn't get our first salary if it wasn't for me. I remember asking my boss if we were also to receive our salary on that certain payday. I told her that all my money were spent during the first three weeks of training and I had nothing else left but 50 pesos (around 1 US dollar). She laughed and told me to ask the Finance Department. When I got there, our salary in checks were just waiting for us. We wouldn't have known we had salary if I didn't ask. That sure was a fun thing to remember but I wish the Finance Dept. had the initiative to tell us since we were just new employees then. Nice topic! Have a great day!

Hi the incidence you narrated brought smile on my face, indeed. Many times when we look backward in our past we remember such incidences which now may sound silly/funny and make us laugh. It reminds me of a incidence, in one of the exams, refill of my pen got exhausted, so i left paper blank and came back home. Now when i remember it, i feel, how foolish i was, I did not request pen from teacher, who would have given me his pen to write paper. HA HA AHA

I received my first salary more than a decade ago, but I still remember what I did with the money.hehe. I bought a pair of dress, then some personal accessories and a gallon of Ice cream as a blow out. I remember where I spent my first salary, because like what you said, it is something special and worth remembering---having to receive the very first salary.

As far as I am concerned, I think when the first time I got my first salary in my life, I will just take the most of the to give my parents who have raised me up. I must say thank them so much. Without them I think I can not have this kind of condition for life.

Yes you're right, the first salary is worth remembering. I bought a pair of jeans, my first ever. I don't want to divulge the brand. Some of it I gave to my mother. She was quite happy because the face cream that she was using was lost. Imagine I was babysitting and I got quite big amount.
