Okay guys recently, by that I mean yesterday. I have gotten braces! So today is basically my first day in braces and I hate them! Ugh, I try and bite the softest things like bread and they still kill me! I don't know how long I am going to keep them but hopefully not long! So if you have braces tell me about them! Do you like braces? If you had an oppurtunity, would you get braces or resort to something else? I'm not sure if I posted this under the right interest! So please forgive me if I did! - Fry

At first, braces are harsh to wear because you cannot eat fluently but how many days comes you can noticed that you can normally feel as what is the normal teeth without braces. Just feel it like a normal, do not think bad for your braces..

I've had braces for 3 months now - the type you can remove and put on again whenever you like and you absolutely cannot eat with on. I can't say that I'm enjoying it, as each time I tighten them, it hurts a lot. What makes me furious is that I have only one problematic tooth(it's a dog tooth and is much higher than it should be) and I'm wearing braces just because of it. Well, I guess you get used to it at some point, pretty much the way you do with glasses. My dentist says that if I sleep with them and wear them full-time (only time I should remove them is in order to eat) my tooth should be straight by the end of the summer. Good luck to all of you guys who are also wearing braces! :)

Hi. fryloc. I wore braces for three years in the past. I got them put on when I was a senior in high school. Talk about total embarrassment! I was so glad when they was finally removed! I did not like braces at all. I was so ashamed to smile for the camera. I did not like having mines in because I had a boyfriend at that time. I need braces now. I would love to get the Invislign but one dentist told me that I would not be able to. My teeth at the front are too far away for me to get these type of braces. I would love them because no one can tell that I am wearing them in my mouth.

LOL! It will take you awhile to get used to braces, I'm afraid, much more than just one day. I have no idea what you're having corrected, so my guess is the average length - about 2 years. I think I had mine on for at least 2 years, slightly longer because of a car accident I was in. I was actually thrilled to get mine, I was 20 when I got them, no ins coverage as an adult so it was all out of my pocket. I remember the soreness and trouble eating too, but the alternative was not appealing to me, problems with my bite, uneven wear, possibility of broken teeth, damage to gums, and a harder time keeping things clean. I would get braces again... meaning I wouldn't change a thing. I would probably not want to get in the accident because it not only lengthened my treatment but it also caused my results to not be exactly as planned. At the time, there were no other options aside from braces, and I don't think I would have been a candidate for invisalign.

no i had not try to wear braces. it is really hard to wear braces as i had learned from others. but that does not need i don't need to wear braces. i just prefer to leave my teeth as it is cause i don't want to endure the pain of having this braces on.

Hi Fryloc, I would not get braces as I don't need it. However, when I was still a teen- ager I've always wanted to have one. It's not because I needed it during that time but I just thought it's kind of cute to wear braces. There was a time in my highschool days when wearing braces became a fashion. However, there are people who get turned off with a girl or guy wearing braces but not me. There are people who look good in braces. :)

Even I had braces before. Its almost intolerable to have them. I could at hard food like chicken, mutton.Only soft foods should be taken. Oh god!,its really gave a headache for me. But i am happy with the results because now my teeth are straightened and I love the the way I am loving now. Hope I don't have to get another set of braces in the future.

I had braces when I was a kid - and I think I had them for half a year. They actually hurt when I first got them - but I think it took about 3-4 days before it stopped truly hurting. And food tasted really gross for a while . . . but you get used to it (simply because you have no choice). I had the old school braces that fit all around the tooth - like a ring - it's not the ones they have today. Oh - and they were going to do my back teeth, but I convinced my parents to not let them do it to me because no one was going to ever see my back teeth - so let's save the money. They thought it was logical, so they talked to the orthodontists to convince them of leaving my back teeth the way they were. Are you going to have to wear a retainer afterwards? I wore a retainer to keep my teeth the way they were after they were fixed . . . and I can't remember how long I had it - but hated that more than braces.

I had braces for a few years growing up and I hated them. Every time they tightened them, my mouth would hurt. They also found out I was allergic to the cement they used to bond them to my teeth and I got a gum infection as well as cavities because the cement wore out my teeth. I've been dealing with problems from the braces for many years after I got them off. However my teeth are straight now and look good! But I still had to have my wisdom teeth pulled out. Originally they told me if I got braces they wouldn't have to pull any teeth but they were wrong. Oh well. Looking back on it, the braces weren't that bad. They were just ugly and annoying to me. I always had to clean food out of them, yuck! But I made it thru and now a days I don't even think about how I had braces. But reading this reminded me.
